Partners at scans...

Can anyone tell me if partners are allowed to come to 20 week scans?! I’ve seen a lot of people saying they aren’t since this lockdown.

I’m in Newcastle/Durham area. Thanks.

It will probably depend upon your individual hospital and how cases etc are there at the time of your scan.

I hope your partner can go and all is ok with your baby.

Yes but I'm in Scotland so unsure about your health board. I would suggest calling the xray department and they will be able to clarify for you.

Down to individual hospital. My trust is a no (as of the 20 week scan letter I got yesterday). England.

Depends on your hospital.

I had my 20 weeks scan today. My partner could not wait with me but once it was time for my appointment he was allowed to come in and watch the scan. I'm in the North West.

They are at Sunderland Royal. I know it's not the exact hospital but quite close to you :)

Depends on your hospital. My husband came with me today for 20 weeks scan but thats the only one he was allowed to come to. Give them a ring to double check.

Hi OP - RVI and Cramlington are allowing partners at 20 week scans last I checked. I had my 20 week scan in august and they'd just started allowing partners back in.

mariebaby3 · 14/01/2021 20:20

Check with your hospital. Mine is allowed at the 20 week but wasn’t for my 12 week.

Jurassiclover · 14/01/2021 21:12

RVI and Cramlington are as PP said, they allow for 12 and 20 week atm, I was last there on NYE and they still had signs up saying partners could come to 12 & 20 week scans

Illy605 · 14/01/2021 21:43

Thank you everyone! I’ll give the hospital dept a ring next week and find out. Really hoping they are as my partner hasn’t been able to come to the two previous scans yet and we’re only finding out the sex if both of us are there 💕

Totally agree with everyone above, give your hospital a ring.

Recently had my 20 week scan, hospital didn't communicate to us that now lockdown was on (despite me researching and trying to get an answer from my community midwife, which she didn't have), my husband needed proof of a negative covid test to be allowed in.

He's been isolating and working from home since Feb 2020 as he's vulnerable. Also were part of the same household so I don't really see why they wouldn't let him in.

So there I am, first time mum, 21 weeks pregnant sobbing my eyes out for the whole scan because my husband hadn't been allowed to be part of any of this, and I just really wanted him there with me. Makes me really sad.

Sorry for the long post, definitely ring your hospital and arrange a covid test for your partner where necessary as proof just in case.

Enjoy your scan and good luck with baby!
