21 Weeks and Crying

I just hit 21-weeks and I keep bursting into tears over nothing (literally nothing) and feel quite sensitive.

Last time I felt like this was during the first 8 weeks, so it's weird it's happening again now... or is it?

It feels hormonal, has anyone else experienced this?

Congratulations on your pregnancy. I'm 36wks today and on and off throughout my pregnancy I've been tearful. Thats sort of how I knew I was pregnant. I'm not an overly emotional person in general. Disney makes me cry but not much else. And its continued every few weeks all the way through. The last two weeks I've been in floods of tears over things that wouldn't normally make me cry. Had 2 previous pregnancies, both boys, didnt happen. Expecting a girl this time and I'm so emotional. Bloody hormones.

Yes, couldn't even hold a conversation at 21 weeks without crying and it took nothing to set me off. Maybe hormonal and I am feeling a bit better now at 28 weeks but not great. I referred myself for some support now (IAPT) as I felt really low / no motivation. Watch out for cutting yourself off from people. I hope you are ok.

@Mochatatts that sounds like me too! I can pretty much always tell when it's hormonal, as the "real me" is in there somewhere rolling her eyes :-) It just hit me out of nowhere the last couple of days. Glad it's normal though! This is my first and we're expecting a boy, so I have no idea what's going on.

@Glitterazzi thank you for your kind words. Sorry to hear you've had it so tough. Fortunately it does seem to pass quickly, but I'm definitely feeling lower than normal and easily overwhelmed. Will keep an eye on myself though. Hope you're doing ok x

@Glitterazzi Watch out for cutting yourself off from people

What does it mean if someone does that? What extent do you mean cutting people off?

JustAnotherUserinParadise · 14/01/2021 15:13

I'm now 35 weeks and have been crying all the time the whole way through!

iloveyoubutilovememore · 14/01/2021 15:13

@FTEngineerM - I think PP meant to talk to people about it. Don't bottle emotions up or keep things to yourself, especially during these isolating times! Hope you're ok @jazzibelle. I'm 25 weeks and have been very up and down emotionally, but I struggle with hormone changes regardless. Just be kind to yourself, and if it becomes difficult to cope with then have a chat with your midwife or GP. x

@iloveyoubutilovememore thank you :-) I'm doing ok. It seems to come and go in short bursts. Had a good snot cry this morning, and immediately felt better. It's just odd that it happens so suddenly, even though I know it's hormonal. I've dedicated tomorrow to some self-care and got DH to make my favourite dinner tonight so things are looking up :-)

Hiya! Oh my goodness, I am 25 weeks pregnant and I have cried for days over the most simple things lol. I feeling pretty good now and it seems to have passed, it's hormones and actually being in a pandemic doesn't help! It's totally normal thou, so be kind to your self and maybe treat your self to a home pamper kit! Smile

FTEngineerM · 14/01/2021 16:45

@iloveyoubutilovememore ah, I didn’t interpret it as that. I seem to cut people off when I’m pregnant and just not see or talk to anyone so I started a little panic when I read that! I mean what pregnant lady doesn’t like to worry hey?!

@jazzibelle im only at the start and cry at lots of things, it’s totally normal and good that you’re checking and talking to people about it. Last time I was pregnant I cried because the fudge I was eating hate the BB date as my due dates go, we’re allowed.

Willowfalls · 16/01/2021 21:32

@jazzibelle I am 21 weeks too and could have written this.

I keep crying and generally feeling low. Felt like this at 6-8 weeks but felt great until this week. Wasn’t sure if lockdown was playing a huge part too! X
