I've never went into labour naturally so don't know "the signs" but know not everyone gets them.

I've heard things like increased stringy discharge, bump dropping, extra or less energy, increased appetite, crazy nesting etc in the 24-48 hours before

I had mild period like pains in the morning which came and went. Started timing them using an app and realised they were pretty regular. I felt rough the night before and hardly slept too. Arrived at the hospital at 4pm fully dilated and ready to push which was a bit of a surprise!

Diarrhea!!!! I thought I had food poisoning!

Chanel05 · 15/01/2021 03:39

Literally just contractions. Nothing noticeable in the days/weeks before but woke up to contractions one morning. Plug went 8 hours later and waters went 11 hours after first contraction.

calimommy · 15/01/2021 04:28

1DS induced so no help there
2DS water broke spontaneously and contractions started after
3DS woke up from sleep with strong contractions
4DD...still pregnant...hoping she falls out painlessly 🙈😂

Best of luck op!

Absolutely no signs until my waters went pop at 2am and contractions started straight away. Did not expect it at all as little one came on my due date 😅 I was expecting to go over 100%
Waters gushed out lol

Mucus plug/show over course of the Sunday, then Monday morning Woke up at about 6 and my waters went, no contractions until after lunch time. Then started gradually, ramped up and went in to hospital about 6, DS born at 11.30pm.

OnNaturesCourse · 15/01/2021 11:34

Interesting!

I had a internal scan today and it showed little one being engaged and pushing down, my cervix was quite short too so I guess that's where my pains have been coming from. Could still be weeks yet tho I guess.

I had a sharp tight pain after dismantling my desk and putting it in the loft then my bump went squelchy when I pressed on it, this was in the afternoon. My waters broke at midnight, I felt slightly damp so went to the toilet when they went like I was in a soap. I went to get checked I was having contractions but couldn't feel them. By about 4am I could feel them and they were 30 seconds long and 3 in 10 minutes from the start, baby was born at lunchtime after 3h of active labour.

I had had my 38 week check a few days earlier and the head was down but not engaged and my bump hadn't dropped. It never dropped in the end and I had her feet in my ribs all through labour

I’m waiting patiently to see if my labour starts soon.
I had a sweep on Wednesday and was 1cm dilated, bishop score of 3, which is low.
Since then I’ve started to lose my plug (no blood)
I’ve been very tired and irritable today. I slept better than I have in weeks last night.
Also, I’ve lots a small amount of weight on the scale which is odd.

No pains yet, but fingers crossed, as I’m booked for induction next week and would prefer to start by myself.

shreddednips · 15/01/2021 15:22

Good luck to all those waiting for babies to arrive!

I had no signs at all. I had awful pelvic pain for weeks before and could barely walk but I think that's just because I'm small and DS was rather plump.

Mine started with strong, long contractions with absolutely no warning. One minute I was waddling around the house, the next I was in labour. They didn't ramp up either, they were every 2 minutes right from the start and very, very intense. It rather took me by surprise because everything I'd read suggested that it takes rather a long time for labour to establish for a first baby.

Lib3rtine · 15/01/2021 15:57

@bubblesforlife I’m in the same position as you, sweep was on Wednesday, lost some mucus today and braxton hicks are increasing but nothing else! I’m so impatient!

That's interesting about the squelchy tummy - do you mean it was soft to touch?

Superscientist · 16/01/2021 13:39

My bump was always firm/tight to the touch like a drum but the afternoon before my waters went it felt more like pressing on a damp sponge with a squelchy noise after as I pulled away. I don't know if this meant my waters had broken prior to the gush at midnight?

OnNaturesCourse · 18/01/2021 07:52

Oh I've heard of that before. Definitely sounds like your waters were already going..
