Is it OK to decorate?

I'm planning on decorating the baby nursery in a month or so time, unable to get a decorater in due to lockdown. I am 20w3d pregnant, is this OK to do?

Decorators are still permitted to work during lockdown (we have one booked for next week as we're nearing the end of a huge extension and 2 bathrooms/bedroom to do) Not ideal at 36wks pregnant but needed boiler replaced and new flooring due to leak so mostly essential.

However if you're choosing to decorate yourself instead just keep rooms well ventilated and no reason why you can't.

Ohh are they? I didn't know that.
I might just do it myself anyways as the decorator that was going to come said he doesn't wallpaper he only paints... so may aswell do it myself 😂 just wanted to check that this would be ok and safe for baby.

I had my whole house painted bar 2 bedrooms a few weeks ago and all well. Just wear a mask and ventilate the rooms well. As it was my whole house it was giving me a bit of a headache and i stayed in my mums one night, but one room should defo be ok!

I've just decorated the nursery on my own as I'm not working due to lock down and partner still is and I'm the most impatient person ever and wasn't willing to see if rules settled to get a painter in lol but I'm fine i read everywhere about it first because was worried the fumes etc would be an issue but no where said it was proven dangerous just make sure the window is open as can get quite fumy i was 20 weeks I just made sure I done it slowly and didn't do to much at once x

Wherethereshope · 13/01/2021 02:45

It's fine, just pace yourself

GretaSheen · 13/01/2021 02:55

Yes, fine. I laid flooring and decorated my lounge at 37 weeks gone.

Be careful and take your time.

WitchesBritchesPumpkinPants · 13/01/2021 02:58

Be very careful on ladders!!

Ifyoulikepinacoladaa · 13/01/2021 03:14

Yes it’s fine. I was painting skirting on my due date. Was just a bit slower than usual.

DramaAlpaca · 13/01/2021 03:35

Of course. My MIL was totally wrong in being horrified when she saw me raising my arms above my head. It really won't do any harm. Just don't wear yourself out.

stopchewingeverything · 13/01/2021 03:38

Its fine. Just make sure you have good ventilation and use low VOC paints....most general indoor wall paints are :)

@boymum1x I'm in the same position I've been furloughed and my partner is still working. I am so impatient aswell haha, I just can't wait to get things sorted out and ready for little one.

Thank you all for the replies, I will take it steady and open the windows 😀

Haven't you ever watched Grand Designs? Grin

CLeighannHxo · 13/01/2021 11:18
