Hi everyone,

Currently 6+2 and having pretty bad nausea all day, can't think about/prepare food but can manage to eat something when put in front of me.

I work full time NHS front line, I've only had 2 days working with the nausea, and putting on a face and getting through the day is taking all my energy. I come home and have zero energy to do everything (say this after waking up from a 2 hour nap) and no personality with my partner. The only thing keeping me content is knowing that this is a good sign that things are progressing as they should.

I know I'm luckier than others in that no vomiting so far. What I need to know is, is it ok/normal for me to come home and lie around on the couch/in bed? I tried going for a walk on Sunday but it didn't make me feel any better.

And, when did your nausea peak/start getting better?
Thank you

Yes it's normal. Do whatever you need to do to get through it. For me it was keeping cereal bars to hand to nibble tiny amounts of and barely moving when I wasn't at work.

Mine lessened a little by about 25 weeks in that I stopped being sick a few times a day, but I was unfortunate and was sick every few days and felt sick a lot til the end. I vomited the morning of my csection.

However most of my friends did not experience it this long and 15 or so weeks seemed to be more common.

GeorgieTheGorgeousGoat · 12/01/2021 19:39

Peaked at 8 weeks and stopped around 14 weeks for all three of mine.

Eating/nibbling crackers, biscuits, ice lollies etc constantly was the only thing that helped

Dogsandbabies · 12/01/2021 19:41

Mine stopped around 8 weeks every time. Hope it eases soon for you.

WalkingMeAway · 12/01/2021 19:43

Mine has just started to subside the past week or so. I’m 14+1. It’s still there sporadically but I can deal with that!

I think I spent week 6-12 on the sofa if I didn’t have to do anything. My sympathies. It’s a hard time x

AmandaHoldensLips · 12/01/2021 19:44

14 weeks. Morning noon and night sickness - awful. But then it just stops. Flowers

Quail15 · 12/01/2021 19:45

My nausea turned to vomiting at 7/8 weeks and stopped around 14 weeks with my 1st pregnancy.

With this one (currently 26 weeks) nausea turned to vomiting at around 10 weeks and didn't stop until 18 weeks.

I'm frontline NHS as well and it was a struggle at times. Lots of dry biscuits to nibble. I found lemon juice helped. Gaviscon also helped control some of the nausea. I hope you feel better soon.

lockdownshitshow · 12/01/2021 19:46

16 weeks
Waiting for the magical 12 weeks cessation but that's didn't happen.
I was feeling myself by 20 weeks
And it wasn't morning sickness it was ALL bloody day and worse at night

Apricotta · 12/01/2021 19:46

Had almost hypermesis from 7/8 weeks, but was 1 pound short of being hospitalised. Had cylclizine 3 times a day from then until around 18 weeks. Currently 26 weeks and I think it's coming back...

peachypetite · 12/01/2021 19:47

I had terrible terrible nausea (only vomited a handful of times) u til week 16. It was awful. Eat whatever you fancy even if its just salt and vinegar crisps for dinner it doesn’t matter. Don’t feel like you should be doing anything other than resting when you’re not at work!

rumandbiscuits · 12/01/2021 19:49

Oh I really feel for you, it's awful to have all day nausea. With my first LG the nausea eased around 10 weeks and was gone by 12 weeks. I am currently pregnant and nearly into my final trimester, with this pregnancy it eased around 12 weeks and was gone by 14 weeks. Good luck.

GlennRheeismyfavourite · 12/01/2021 19:54

Started at week six, mostly passes by week 14 - you have my sympathies- it was horrific. With my second pregnancy being sick gave me no relief, I just had to survive! My partner and mother had to do everything fir those 8 weeks. It took all my energy to do my job.

cautiouscovidity · 12/01/2021 19:55

When the placenta detached after birth. Vomiting eased up around 7 months but nausea continued. The relief when the placenta was delivered was immense. 9 months of feeling like I had dreadful travel sickness and then suddenly nothing. Like someone had switched it off Grin

CaptainMyCaptain · 12/01/2021 19:56

Mine stopped as soon as I gave birth.

Maryann1975 · 12/01/2021 20:08

I think around 20 ish weeks. As I remember, one weekend, I had both sickness and heartburn and by the next week, It turned into agonising heartburn which was far worse and would not go away. I tried everything, medical and old wives tales and that stayed until dd was born.

Hoppinggreen · 12/01/2021 20:11

A few days after I gave birth (sorry)

YouBeYou · 12/01/2021 20:11

40+3.

I wouldn't wish it on anyone. Good luck op!

Flittingaboutagain · 12/01/2021 20:14

Mine is night time sickness that started at 8 weeks and day time nausea going strong at almost 14 weeks now. I'm sure it'll settle soon though as most people's do. Sugar free ginger ale is getting me through the days and then night time I have to rough it with my bands and the toilet.

I hope you feel better soon OP.

Birchtree4 · 12/01/2021 20:37

Thank you for all the replies and support, wow it is amazing to see the variety of symptoms/lengths that people have. I feel particularly bad for the ones that lasted into third trimester and can only hope/assume that it was worth it in the end!!
And thank you for reassuring me that it's ok to lie about and eat unhealthy!

13 weeks tomorrow and today is the first day I've only took 1 cyclizine. Still felt a bit sick throughout the day but nowhere near as bad as it has been. 9 weeks was when it got unbearable, been on medication since 6 weeks. I was always anti medication for sickness but I couldn't of coped without it. I highly recommend them.

Nat4392 · 12/01/2021 22:09

Mine started at 6 weeks and lasted until around 16/17 weeks. I was waiting for it to magically disappear at 12 weeks. It did not.

M24L · 12/01/2021 22:25

Mine started around 4 +5 (this was how I came to find out) I was literally put off cooking, eating really just anything to do with food in general. I forced myself to have a cup of soup daily which helped until around 6 weeks then I couldnt stand the sight of them and the thought of having one made me heave.

I was finishing work and going straight home to bed, barley seen DP and any bonding time with DD was mostly done in bed (she seemed to love chilling and chatting tbh)

The nausea started easing around 8 weeks and was gone by 9 weeks although I still have really bad food aversion and I am currently 12 +1. I no longer have nausea or being sick and I have more energy now but the thought of eating or cooking is still really hard. I used to love eating now its a struggle for me to eat proper meals. I have slight cravings or food combos which probably aren't the healthiest but given that everything I once used to like now I no longer do I'm happy I can manage to something haha.

Reeva1988 · 12/01/2021 22:28

16 weeks for me although I still feel sick for the first hour or 2 when I wake up .... 100 times better than it was though!

Pretty much constant up until then!

marauder1994 · 12/01/2021 22:28

Started at 6 weeks and finished at 16/17 weeks xx

Namechange8471 · 13/01/2021 10:03

14 weeks for me, I still have days were i feel really nauseated but its liveable.

I was in bed for weeks previous, i was considering a termination it was that bad.

Handhold op Flowers

Merrz · 13/01/2021 11:42

It's completely normal OP, don't beat yourself up about the lazing around, it's all you can do to be able to function when you have to and it will pass! 1st time i was sick from around 7 to 18 weeks, but felt a lot less sick from around 14 weeks, just vomited frequently. Currently 7 weeks with no 2 and been feeling awful since 5.5 weeks Sad
