Missed period & negative tests

Hi, my partner and I have been trying for a baby for a few months now and I’m so anxious I just really want it to happen. My period is always very accurate or even early however I’m now 3 days late, and 3 negative tests on clear blue. I have been feeling really off, sore boobs, headaches, bleeding gums and stomach cramps. I’m reluctant to do more tests in a few days as I feel I’m making myself sad seeing a negative and also wasting money constantly testing. Any advice?

Hi Aims, I understand my partner and I are also trying for a baby because we are both obese it has been difficult. We have currently been trying for 12 months. 2 months ago my period was 3 days late and I felt like this was finally going to be my time but then Aunt Flo came so it was over. This month I am 4 days late, nothing so far and negative tests. I am normally on time so I have no idea what is going on, I read a thread on here yesterday from years ago and they were saying they tested negative and didn't find out till they were like 8 weeks so I would say maybe try to wait a couple of weeks and test again. I know its easier said than done. I hope you get that positive result you want and the symptoms sound there. I have no symptoms at all. Good luck to you let me know how it goes

Ovulating later than you normally do will make you af (or bfp) late by the same number of days. This is why some women track ovulation, as the time between ov and the start of at is pretty static, but you can ovulate at any cycle day.

I track my ov with an app and I also tested last week and it wasn't late. I started taking folic acid this month and I'm wondering if that had anything to do with it? I'm so anxious for BFP but I can't keep doing tests

An app? How do you ensure the apps accuracy? Do you track bbt? Use opks? Track symptoms? Rhr? And input all this data into the app? Did you have your progesterone tested 7 days before expected af? Most people ovulate roughly two weeks before af, so if you were testing last week for ov only, you might have missed it.

Folic acid alone won't change your cycle (I've never seen any evidence that it does anyway, and I research this stuff A LOT). However, any change in your routine (hello lockdown) or yes, anxiety, can cause ovulation to be delayed.

No I tested for ov and was ov around Christmas! App predicted this going on my yearly cycle which is never more than 28 days. I then took an ov test around Christmas it confirmed I was ov. AF late and no idea why. Might stop folic acid to see

Ov tests don't confirm you've actually ovulated though. They just tell you that your body is 'gearing up' for it by releasing a surge of lutenising hormone. It's possible to then not ovulate after a positive. Or to ovulate 72 hours after the positive. Opks without all the other indicators give you part of the story...

Honestly late ovulation is by far and away the most logical and likely explanation for what's happening, and not at all unusual around the holidays...

My son I didn't get a positive test for almost 2 weeks missed period. I was however put back 11 days on my 12 week scan. You may have ovulated later than you think! Xx

Stopped folic acid today and had some spotting. Not sure if it's coming to anything as with AF I don't get spotting it just happens and I get pressure pains. But I have cramp and a sore lower back 🙄
