TMI - rectal discharge

Sorry for the TMI

I’m 4 weeks pregnant. Never been diagnosed with any gastro problem I’m the past however I’ve always bloated very easily.
This evening my belly has been extremely noisy and I’ve passed two small blobs of clear discharge from my bottom. Not painful what so ever. I haven’t eaten anything dodgy, I’m vegetarian so it’s not as if I’ve eaten undercooked meat or fish etc

Is this normal? Should I be concerned?

Sorry I should add that it was at separate visits to the toilet that I passed the two blobs

@Loveablers
I don't think this is anything related to pregnancy, and if you're not in pain, then not sure why you're worrying. I'd give it a few days of it happening again before cause for concern!

Bloating and clear mucusy discharge are both symptoms of IBS. Do you get tummy aches a lot?

Loveablers · 09/01/2021 23:02

Thank you Smile

Only concerned because I’ve never had this before

Quite often! IBS runs in the family too and although I often experience bloat and belly ‘aches’ (before pregnancy) I’ve never experienced discharge from that area before. I’d say it was at least 2cm

Sounds like IBS to me (as someone who suffered from it for many years, but I'm not a doctor). Are you feeling stressed or anxious about your pregnancy? Stress was the number one IBS attack trigger for me. The mucus discharge is definitely a thing with IBS, but obviously there may be other things that cause cause this too - as I said, I'm no doctor.

Also I found that my IBS symptoms and triggers changed as I got older. So it's quite possible for new symptoms to appear.

As others said not too sure this would be from pregnancy. My partners family has alot of IBS sufferers were they have never went into this much detail it could be the possible change of hormones in your body that may be causing an IBS flare up in you which your usual vegetarian diet usually keeps under control? Its unreal the random effects pregnancy has on your body i sufferred bad with going between constipation one day to having the runs the next in early pregnancy which i suppose is all part of the bowels.

SunnySideUp2020 · 10/01/2021 09:29

Does sound like IBS.
Or possibly hemorrhoids?
If you aren't bleeding or in pain i don't think you should be concerned. But if you are worried go to the GP. They can do stool sample.
Also make sure you are drinking plenty of water and eating your usual stuff...
Pregnancy hormones are wild.

Thank you everybody for your replies, I feel reassured Smile

This is my first pregnancy so completely new to everything! Will see how things go and if I get too concerned will speak to the dr but hopefully there will be no need.
