Hey ladies

On the sofa just now and getting some pulsing pains in my back. However, it isn’t lower back, it’s slightly higher up. It’s been so long since I had a period that I can’t remember what period backache feels like! Is the pain too high?? FTM and don’t know what to expect... :(

It could be the beginning of labour. Try to stay relaxed, maybe have a warm bath. Keep track of the pains and see if they get more intense or last for longer. Good luck lovely.

Does it come and go?? That is how mine started?

Jcmummy32 · 09/01/2021 22:00

Thanks ladies. Just really unsure if I should ignore it or not with it being higher than lower back pain. It does seem to come and go but I haven’t been looking for a pattern... What do you think? Keep talking myself out of it being the start because it’s not lower down but I can’t help but be hopeful...

At 40+2 I would think it's the start of it. Good luck!

@Jcmummy32 how are you feeling this morning?

Jcmummy32 · 10/01/2021 13:42

It carried on through the night and I feel back to normal again this morning... Is that a thing? I just want him to come now :(

He'll be here really soon. It was probably your body getting ready. Is he still moving regularly?

Jcmummy32 · 10/01/2021 14:20

I hope so... I have a real fear of hospitals and have had two sweeps (last one 2.5 days ago) to try and avoid an induction and being in hospital longer...

At my last sweep the midwife said she could get two fingers in (not sure if that’s good?) and that cervix was soft but thick... Really hoped last night was the beginning. I guess most women feel like this when they go past their due date, don’t they? X

If you can, take a short walk. Might make labour come on faster. Good luck

2 fingers is great:-) it means your body is getting ready. With my first I was 7 days over before any sign of labour starting. Walking will be a great help as gravity helps .

Thank you so much @BewareThePenguins Really needed someone to give me a little positivity Smile x

How are you @Jcmummy32 ?

I’m due on Friday and finding all sorts of aches and pains are false signs.
The average baby arrives on 40+5 if it’s first time or 40+2 for later pregnancies once you take out inductions and c sections.
Not long now!

Jcmummy32 · 10/01/2021 19:15

Are you @Onekidnoclue It’s good to know I’m not the only one experiencing these phantom signs... How have you been feeling?

There’s a few of use due about now if you fancy joining the chat www.mumsnet.com/Talk/pregnancy/4083845-January-2021-mums-to-be-The-one-with-hospital-bags-and-heartburn
It’s so hard being in limbo at the end. Part of you wants to just carry on as normal as part of you wants to stop everything in case today is THE DAY. I’ve been a bit twingy but tbh I think it’s been wind! 😬

BewareThePenguins · 13/01/2021 05:09

@Jcmummy32 how are you getting on?

Jcmummy32 · 13/01/2021 08:32

@BewareThePenguins I’m still hanging in there. Feeling pretty down now. I’m a week late and trying really hard to stay positive but just feel rubbish... I’m really scared of hospitals so baby has two days to get here before I get induced on Friday! Please cross your fingers for me :( x

Good luck!

@Jcmummy32 did you end up getting induced? Fingers crossed everything went smoothly. Hopefully you've got you new baby cradled in your arms by now. X
