Update from my scan at the EPU today.

According to LMP I am 6w1. The scan showed progress where a gestational sac was seen. According to its size it suggests I’m 4weeks in. At this stage nothing more can be seen, so I have a follow up in 2 weeks time. Hopefully by then, the bean would have had enough time to settle in and show a HB.

Im pleased to see the positive progress, but at the same time I don’t want to get too excited as its still measuring -2weeks. The doc did assure my that my hcg and progesterone are in line with size of the sac so its nothing to be concerned about. Its just a matter of time.

I’m dreading the next two weeks. I feel like I can’t truly celebrate whilst in this stage of limbo.

Hope everyone else is doing ok ❤️

SkyBlue20 · 10/02/2021 17:02

@NI101 Sorry it left you with more questions than answers, I completely understand the worry. It’s positive that there’s been some development and everything is looking aligned but I hope the next two weeks fly by for you - the wait is awful. Sending lots of strength your way xxx

DanceM1 · 10/02/2021 21:02

@NI101 ahh this sounds really promising but I hope the next two weeks go well and quickly for you!!

Starfish762 · 10/02/2021 22:04

@NI101 oh I’m sorry you have to wait that long, it’s bloody awful at the start it really is! We’ve all been there though, try to keep yourself occupied & I hope the time goes fast for you. Lots of positive vibes xx

Lollol86 · 10/02/2021 22:08

@NI101 well that's certainly positive. I really hope these next 2 weeks go quick for you xx

Lollol86 · 10/02/2021 22:10

How is everyone?

I've been out on medication for gestational diabetes now as I've been unable to control my fasting levels. It means I will be induced at 38 weeks. It all feels so real now.

NI101 · 10/02/2021 22:15

@SkyBlue20@DanceM1@Starfish762@Lollol86 thank you ladies. Work is keeping me rather busy but I’m struggling to sleep at night. Waay too anxious

Lollol86 · 10/02/2021 22:32

@NI101 bedtime is always the worse, our minds like to ply tricks on us. Can you listen to music or put the tv on in the background, just quietly but enough to focus on to stop your thoughts running wild? X

Dipsy77 · 11/02/2021 08:09

@Lollol86 is it metformin you've been given ?
I'm on the maximum dose and apart from a few days where they thought I might need insulin my readings are really good and I've been lucky enough not to get any side effects xx

Workingmama1 · 11/02/2021 13:39

Oh @NI101 the wait until the next scan is so hard. Good that work is keeping you busy and being a distraction. I've done that wait twice now, second time round was this pregnancy and now 31 weeks. I found meditating before bed helped me clear my mind to get to sleep.

@Lollol86 have they given you a date for induction yet? I guess it won't be far away now!

DanceM1 · 11/02/2021 16:48

@Lollol86 how many weeks are you now? Crazy to know when you'll be induced!

I had my 37 week appointment today. Full term now 🥳 Nearly got sent to triage again because of baby's heartrate being high. Luckily it settled down a bit by the time she checked again 20mins later. Think this baby just loves keeping me on my toes! Other than that I'm feeling pretty relaxed- very strange for me! Hope everyone else is ok!!

Lollol86 · 11/02/2021 20:49

@Dipsy77 yes metformin, I'm in day 3 and have just increased my dosage to a second tablet. Fasting levels are still too high but daytime levels have dropped so hoping my fasting will drop in a day or 2.

@Workingmama1 no date yet and I won't be given that until 36 weeks apparently 😭

@DanceM1 I'm 29+4, it still feels a while off but in reality I'm sure it will be here before I know it. Just a shock being told I'll be induced at 38 weeks. Both my girls were over a week late so I expected this one to be too.
Do they want to recheck babies heart rate again?

DanceM1 · 11/02/2021 21:25

@Lollol86 ahh time will fly!! No she didn't mention re checking it. Its always at the high end... in my green notes every time its 150something. Today it was 160something at first then back down. So it wasn't really that elevated I dont think. I hope anyway 🙏🙏

Pugprincess · 12/02/2021 04:27

@NI101 bless you, what a horrible agonising wait 😩 this pregnancy lark is such a challenge and a test isn't it. Its good news that despite the bleeding (is my memory correct and you had bleeding?) things are still progressing though. Was you certain of your dates? Just wondering if ovulation was much later than you think to account for the 2 weeks, it's hard going by last period date if you was happening to have an odd cycle that month... Either that or because its so small at this stage they can't be too accurate? I worried on my first scan as they put me back by 5 days in my estimate (I had no period date as fell again straight after the mc) but I was pretty certain of my ovulation date with my ovulation tests etc. However further on I jumped forward by that many days so I made it up for it later on, which I reckon means they were off at the start with their estimate. Even if you were 5 weeks plus by their estimate now its sometimes too early to see a hb I think. They told me I was 5+6 and I saw the hb but really I thought (and was probably right) that I was 6+4. I rambled on there but I hope that helps abit. How is your bleeding now? Has it stopped? Down to brown stuff now? X

@Lollol86 bless you I bet you're feeling shocked. Least you have some time to prepare I suppose, mentally and physically, are you ready for baby or still some things to sort? I'm going to get dh to get cases down from attic over the weekend so I can start packing my hospital stuff over half term next week just incase. Xx

NI101 · 12/02/2021 18:46

Thank @Workingmama1 it is really tough as two weeks is a really long wait. Im trying to convince myself its better as this way I will have a confirmed answer at that point.

@Pugprincess yes you are right. I have been bleeding the entire time. It will be two whole weeks this weekend. I would say the bleeding has got heavier so definitely in need of a pad instead of the panty liners i was initially using. As you say, its pleasing to see progress made but the dates dont add up. I always have a 28-29day cycle and I tracked ovulation so I’m sure it was between 10-12jan.

I can’t remember who it was, but one person on this thread suggested it could be hemaetoma which isnt too dangerous. I’ve been doing some googling on this and am not too sure if I could have this so early on in pregnancy as the placenta hasnt begun to form yet. Also, would the docs not see anything on the scan if this were the case?

If im completely honest, im starting to feel really low about it all. I dont know how im going to manage the next 2 weeks. I feel like I’m slowly drifting away from the presence and hiding in my fearful thoughts. Not feeling great at all :(

ew1990 · 12/02/2021 19:11

@N101 I had a haematoma on a scan at 5 weeks, then I had a gush of blood at 9 weeks, really hope the next 2 weeks go fast for you❤️

Lollol86 · 12/02/2021 21:14

@Pugprincess I have everyone just need to get it all washed which I'm waiting until I go on mat leave to do. My plan is to also get my bag packed this weekend, best to be ready just incase. It was a massive shock. How are you doing?

Lollol86 · 12/02/2021 21:15

That should say I have everything 🤦🏼‍♀️😂

NI101 · 12/02/2021 21:54

@ew1990 did you bleed before the gush of blood at 9weeks?

SkyBlue20 · 12/02/2021 22:47

@NI101 just wanted to say that I’m sending lots of love and strength, the wait is so hard. You CAN do it though and you know where we are xx

ew1990 · 12/02/2021 22:51

@N101 no I didn't, I had a bleed around the same time too with DD but with my MMC I had no bleeding or anything x

Pugprincess · 13/02/2021 12:43

@NI101 aw think it was me that suggested haematoma, I had a red blood bleed at 9 weeks but I had been spotting early on top like weeks 5 and 6 I think. Nothing was picked up in my early scan but after the 9 week bleed I went private and the sonographer had to have a good search for my haematoma, it wasnt in such an obvious place I don't think. Deep breaths and one day at a time. 🤞🏻

@Lollol86 hi! I'm good thank you, just the usual heartburn and insomnia lol. I need to get out more though, nipped chemist this morn and felt so anxious as I hardly get out now I'm isolating more and working from home. 31 weeks today though 😊

NI101 · 13/02/2021 16:35

Thanks ladies.

I had a bit of a panic this morning and decided to book a private scan for the very same day. I wasn’t expecting to see much change if any from Wednesdays scan. But I just wanted some reassurance. My experience with the NHS wasnt very reassuring it was just in and out. It is what it is. Time will tell. My private scan, the sonographer took time to look around my uterus to identify any bleeding. She measured the sac and explained the measurements and what we should expect of the next few weeks. She showed my cervix and explained it was closed which is a good thing. If I were miscarrying it would have been open to showing some signs. The appointment only lasted 10 mins but I felt so much at ease after being able to understand what is happening with my body. I’m feeling a lot more positive now. Just going to focus on me over the next few weeks and make sure I’m giving my bean the best chance.

Pugprincess · 14/02/2021 05:39

@NI101 amazing news! I too found the private scan to be more helpful. Did the sonographer find where the bleeding is coming from? Great news that the cervix is closed too. What did she think to the measurements xx

Pugprincess · 14/02/2021 05:49

@NI101 and I agree take it easy, rest as much as poss, no heavy lifting obvs, I didn't even hoover in first trimester lol. I've had hubby carry laundry basket the whole way through. I stopped burning parrafin wax melts and candles, tried to reduce my exposure to chemicals etc. Reduced caffeine and fizzy drinks etc, even choc (I've relaxed some of this now I'm further) but first trimester I just wanted to be soooo careful. If finances allow defo have some fortnightly private scans to get you through the first trimester. Once I felt flutters at 15 weeks I stopped having scans as the flutters reassured me enough. That was really early to feel for a first time being that far gone though, but I think I'm quite tuned into my body and lucky to have a posterior placenta so you feel more. But having the scans always gave me something to work towards and if I was having anxious thoughts I could tell myself well you have a scan booked soon. Its hard in first trimester because of the whole mmc thing so a scan is the only way to know if all is OK. I think the odds get better after 8 weeks too. X
