Hi ladies ,
No judgment please 😭
I’m 6 weeks pregnant with my 4th .
Due to serious complications in my 3rd section I’ve had little option but to choose to terminate .
On Wednesday I’m going to a Bpas clinic for a surgical abortion under local anaesthetic.
Has anyone had this ? I want honest raw answers Because I want to know what to expect .
Thanks everyone. X

Can i ask how this went as im considering this option instead of medical whoch i dont like the sound of the pain for hours and also i suffer from bad anxiety

Mpark · 09/02/2021 17:46

Hey honey :)
I had my surgical abortion with local anesthetic 2 weeks ago . The local injections were a weird pressure like feeling for a couple of seconds and the rest of the procedure was pretty painless and it was done within 5 mins ! Afterwards I had mild period cramps and light bleeding . Definitely choose this option if you can. I took 2 codeine tablets 1 hour before the procedure to help :) xxx

Hi Smile thanks so much i am also really scared of the injections incase i have some kind of reaction to it ....i suffer badly with my anxiety disorder.....do you think it would be ok to have without any injections or to painfull???? Also i have never taken codeine before do ypu think paracetamol and ibuprofen would help me if taken before ? Thanks so much for ypur reply xx

Mpark · 09/02/2021 20:42

Honestly I can promise you you will be fine with the injection , it’s over extremely quick . I’m not sure on how it would feel without the injection so maybe ask one of the nurses at the abortion clinic?? Xx
Take ibuprofen if you don’t want to take codeine love , I am allergic to ibuprofen so I had to take codeine .
I too suffer with anxiety and I was an absolute nervous wreck when I went , didn’t sleep for nights before but I feel such a prat now for worrying so much because there was no need .
Don’t be daft , always here for a chat xx

Mpark · 09/02/2021 21:32

I’m 29 in 2 weeks time :) x
I absolutely agree with them because with medical it can take hours for everything to come away and you will bleed very heavily ect where as with a surgical it’s over so quickly . You will be absolutely fine you know 💗 it might seem like you have to do the impossible but from somewhere you will find the strength x
At times like this you need someone to chat to so I’m always available on this thread or you can direct message me xxx

@Kaz312021

If its any help I had medical management a year ago and I didn't find it any worse than period pain. I think a lot of the time you read horror stories but personally I didn't find it anywhere near as bad as others had said they had.
I didn't take any painkillers at all during it either.

Kaz312021 · 10/02/2021 12:57

Yeah i suffer from bad anxiety so once i start seekng blood and what not ill jist start panicing about stuff i think i would rather be in a place where i can just get reassurance that im ok and if im not i have the help there already ..... plus i have a 11 year old daughter and i dont want her to see me going though that at home xx

Alicespring · 10/02/2021 13:12

@Alicespring

Yeah maybe better to do that. Hope everything goes ok x

I had a medical abortion which was started on the roll at around 12 but br the time it got to doing it I was somewhere between there and 16 weeks. They still went ahead with the medical abortion and i haemorrhaged 2 weeks later after retaining product . Ended up having the surgery and I felt nothing. Was knocked out and then I woke up in recovery and couldn't tell anything had been done! Obviously apart from I'd stopped bleeding

Kaz312021 · 11/02/2021 17:54

@lucyrp do you think you haemorrhage becuase you were so far gone or ??? This is my worst nightmare that i go to surgicsl and i end up haemorrhaging or something gose terrible wrong i am going to try and do it without any anesthetic becuase i petrified of being put to sleep x

lucyrp · 11/02/2021 17:57

@Kaz312021 yes I think it was because I was given medical as the first approach and I was too far gone for that by the time it went ahead. I had to go through pseudo labour and give birth and I still managed to retain product which is why I ended up haemorrhaging. Omg really? I was so glad I was put under as it was emotional anyway x

Kaz312021 · 11/02/2021 18:03

@lucyrp yeah that same thing happened to my mum she haemorrhaged when she was 3 months gone but she had a miscarriage very rare to happen thst far gone ......yeah i think i would rather be awake and get it over and done with and out of there quicker without sounding horriable and you have to stay longer in the place if u have anesthetic...apparently it dont hurt as much if you have given birth before which i but that was 11 years ago now x
