HELP! Medical abortion at home

Hi lovelies, I'm just looking for some advice. I recently made the decision to have an abortion after a failed morning after pill. The decision wasn't easy but i know it's the right one. I went thursday and collected the tablets to do at home as I'm 6 weeks. I took the first tablet. Then after 24 hours melted the second lots of tablets in my mouth for 30 mins, this was at 4pm. After around 10 mins I started cramping and bleeding. This continued for 7 hours, but I didn't pass any clots. I called Marie stopes and they advised me to have the extra 2 tablets at 10:30pm last night. More cramping and bleeding but again no clots. I fell asleep and have woke up now at 5am, the cramping has stopped and the bleeding lighter. Has it failed? I know they say it can take 48 hours but I'm nervous it hasn't worked and something is stuck? Has anyone had this situation and it been successful? Thanks so much in advance for reading! X

Thanks for coming back to me, I just don't know. I'm wondering if I could of missed something. I'm not really bleeding much now, I had to have an mva last year after a miscarriage and can't go through that again! It was the worst experience of my life! X

All I do know is I haven't been sick today for the first day in 4 days, so I'm hoping that's a good sign maybe? 😬

Sorry I can’t offer any advice not had the experience but I would ask on the pregnancy choices page as there might me more knowledgable people of there.

I barely bled much when I had a medical abortion at about the same gestation, also at home. Less bleeding than my normal period. No obvious clots. My abortion was complete.

And by 2 days after taking the 2nd pill I felt totally fine & went out for the day.

I had an early medical abortion at home during Lockdown 1. I was around 5-6 weeks ish. I was expecting loads of heavy bleeding and clots but it wasn’t really like that. I certainly bled but didn’t pass any noticeable clots. Like you I was worried it had failed but it was fine, the pregnancy test you have to take 3 weeks later (I had my abortion through BPAS) was negative. If you’re unsure at all give them a call and they should scan you. Good luck x

Oh and I also only bled for about 4 days afterwards and the last couple of days were really light.

At 6 weeks there isn't a huge amount to pass. So if there was cramping and bleeding it might be "complete". Do you have a follow up booked or take a test in a couple of weeks.....?

Thankyou all so much for your replies. That's made me feel so much better. I feel much better today than I have done in a few weeks.

I've really light bleeding and feel 'normal' really. All sickness seems to of gone.

I called them and they said give it until Monday then if I feel like I haven't bled enough I can go for an internal scan.. which is something I'd like to avoid if it's not necessary. They also gave me a test to do in 3 weeks. I just wasn't sure if it could cause damage in 3 weeks if it hasn't passed xx
