Newborn vs 0-3 months

I'm 26 weeks (FTM) and starting to look at buying a few things. Going off the NHS advice, I'll be buying 6 sleep suits and 6 vests but I'm wondering... do I need to buy 6 sleep suits in newborn size AND six in 0-3 months? Obviously won't know how big the baby will be until she's here so I'm unsure what sizes to get. Any advice would be brilliant, thanks!

0-3 months is far too big for most babies and they won't be in it for a while. Go for newborn and upto 1 month first.

My baby was 8lb and in newborn/first size for about 3/4 weeks. Most babies lose weight the first week or so too.

We then went in to the size 1 month or upto 1 month until she was about 6/7 wks when she went into 0-3 months.

I wld also buy a lot more than 6 unless u want to be doing washings everyday. I cld easily go through 3 outfit changes sometimes 4.

My youngest was 3 weeks early so newborn was a bit big on her, she was 6lb11 but I did have a few tiny baby things or newborn ones that were smaller. She didn't go in to 0-3 until she was about 2 months old and they were a bit big for a week or so.

I find Next sleepsuits are brilliant, they have first size which is essentially newborn and fitted my girls really well. Try get bundles on eBay if u don't want to spend loads.

0-3 clothes tend to be huge. Think about how much of a size difference there is in a 0 month old and a 3 month old! Buy some newborn/first size and also have a look for up to a month or 1-2 months (Next and H&M are good for these sizes).

Get a newborn pack just before baby is due and return if baby is on the bigger side :)

With dd I had newborn and 0-3, she was 5lb 10oz so we had to get tiny baby clothes. With ds we had newborn, up to 1 month and 0-3. I put him in newborn for a few hours but he couldn't stretch his legs properly so went into up to a month a few hours after being born. Ds was 8lb 10 and was not in 0-3 for very long either.

If you are buying from a supermarkets the basics come in sets anyway and are inexpensive.

My son was 7.8lb when born & newborn fit for about 10 days, he then went into in his upto 1 month clothes. He's now 5 weeks old, weighs 10.15lb & has just moved into his 0-3 months clothes.
We wasted so much money buying far to many clothes, he barely wore the same thing twice!
I'd order 6-10 vests & sleepsuits in newborn & upto 1 month, you won't need 0-3 just yet unless your expecting a big baby.
We've been going on daily walks & the only other items we've used are 1x thick cardigan, hat & mittens.

I bought a pack of tiny baby, a pack of first size/newborn and a pack of 0-3

Now she's here and we know the size she's in we will get more of that.
