How will I know if I am having a miscarriage

Im about 5-6 weeks pregnant. I've had brown discharge when I wipe for about 10 days now and cramping on and off since I missed my period. I just went to the washroom and when I wiped there was some blood instead of brown discharge. I also am having cramping at the moment.

At what point do I need to be concerned I'm having a miscarriage? With there be a lot of blood? I just want to know what to look out for/prepare for.

When I had a miscarriage it was bright red blood, then cramping. When the cramping got worse (maybe 12/24 hours later) the bleeding got heavier and I passed clots.

@evrgrn3 so sorry you're experiencing this, it's so unsettling when you have a bleed in early pregnancy. I think you should seek advice/referral to an EPU. Every pregnancy is different and may well be fine but it's really sensible to get checked. I had light, brown bleeding and hoped it was nothing but was a MMC and needed medical management. MC is not always obvious until a scan sadly. I also know other ladies who have had more extreme bleeding but everything was fine. I don't want to scare you at all but would really encourage you to seek EPU advice and keeping everything crossed that everything is fine x

Like you I had brown spotting on/off for 2 weeks. Then I started bleeding red blood with cramping and back pain. I went to the hospital who did bloods to confirm it was a miscarriage. Take care

Had a MMC in oct. pregnant again at 5 and a half weeks and just got some pinkish stained discharge and panicking having another miscarriage :(
as it was MMC last time like u dont really know what should belooking out for now. I know some people do get a bit of bleeding during early pregnancy and light cramps (which i have) - but at what point is it not a good sign :(
i think if i carry on having these cramps and any more blood at all ill ring EPU tomorrow.

I’ve had what you described, brown discharge only when I wipe for about 2 weeks.
One day a small tiny clot passed and I rang the EPU straight away.
An internal scan had shown the gestational sac collapsed and did not grow and I passed the tissue around 5 days later. It was horrible.

I fell pregnant 2 months later though, and little bubba is due in April.
