10 weeks, when is your 12 week scan?

I'm 10 weeks pregnant and I have not told anyone that I am pregnant. I'm going to tell it after dating scan. I took my blood test the middle of December and I was told that I would receive a letter from the hospital and the letter will tell me when is my first appointment. Next week is 11 week but I still have not received any letter. It seems the dating scan is usually done between 11 and 13 weeks so I still have time but I'm getting anxious whether it has been affected by Covid.

My question is whether you have received a letter from the hospital with the confirmed dated for the 12 week scan and the process is the same as me?

Hi hun in the same boat, am 12+3 weeks and still no letter in the post. The midwife is calling me tomorrow so will find out more then I hope.

Just like you I’m worried they have forgot about me lol x

PegLegTrev · 07/01/2021 21:32

I’m ten weeks - no letter.

My 8 week booking in appt isn’t until I’m 11 weeks so I’m not holding my breath.

I think it depends on where you are? I live in scotland and you self refer to the midwife here so as soon as i got my bfp i called and they gave me my booking in appointment and my 12 week scan appointment there and then on the phone, i then received a letter about both roughly 2 weeks later. I would reccomend giving your local maternity unit a call just to see where things are for you

Sorry to hear you guys are still waiting for a date. Currently 11+4 and got the letter at 9+4. Maybe the delay is a combination of Christmas and Covid.

Personally I'd give the midwife/gp/hospital (or all three Blush) a call to make sure you're not forgotten - it's not worth the anxiety to just sit and wait.

Definitely chase. It's important you have the scan and associated blood test before you're much further along. Don't feel guilty it's the right thing to do.

I’m 10 weeks 7 days and my scan is the 18th, never received a letter but the midwife gave me a number to call and book the scan in.

I think it depends on your area as to what the process is, I am Scotland, but I had to wait for my letter, but I know others in Scotland who receive their scan appointment at their booking in appointment.

I had my scan yesterday, based on last period, this would have put me at 14 weeks (scan determined I was 13 weeks plus 4 days)

Funnily enough, I looked back at when I had my last two DC, one scan was done at 14 weeks (some 9 years ago) and one at 12 weeks.

I daresay covid will play a bit of a factor, they have to ensure social distancing in the waiting rooms, etc. But try not to stress, they can do nuchal test if you want that up until 14 weeks, although my bubba wouldn't play ball yesterday so we will do bloods for this instead.

PS my letter came in about a week after my booking in appointment, my booking in appointment was at 10 weeks 5 days

With my first baby I didn’t get a scan until 14 weeks.

I have done what I did last time and booked a private one.

Bleepers · 08/01/2021 09:17

Im in London. I got the letter at 6 weeks and have a scan booked for 11 weeks. Was very impressed with how quick and organised they have been.

AnxiousAnnie86 · 08/01/2021 09:19

@hermitzero I would call them, I never received a letter. I was told I would but didn't! I called the booking line and booked my own appointment x

pringlebells · 08/01/2021 09:40

I'm 7+3 and had my booking in appt yesterday, MW said to expect it between 11-14 weeks which is standard anyway.

Can't wait to find out though, something to look forward to

Mytinyman · 08/01/2021 09:55

I am 13 weeks today and my scan isn't until next Friday because the hospital lost my referral, i ended up calling my midwife who chased it up for me and got me one, might be worth getting in touch with your midwife x

M24L · 08/01/2021 10:24

I am roughly around 11+4. When I found out I was advised to call the booking line who gave me 2 appointments one for bloods etc and another one for my booking scan both appointments were 1 week apart with the scan being the latter.

At my booking scan it came too light that I wasn't as far on as we expected they had me showing at around 8-9 weeks so was advised to book back in for my booking scan.

This was done at the maternity ward reception straight after my appointment, I was giving an appointment for the 18th of January for my booking scan which will be 4 weeks and 4 days since my early scan and as far as I'm aware all other appointments will be given on the day of the appointment previous. So for example when I go for my booking scan I will be told/given a letter for my next appointment.

I would definitely call up your local maternity ward or midwife just to check that all is going OK, no harm in checking.

Meomeomeo · 08/01/2021 10:38

Definitely chase. Mine was 11+4 for the dating scan but they hadn’t done my booking appointment by then so all blood work got done on the same day and booking appointment was done 10 days later.
