Nursing bra HH+

I'm 33 weeks and currently a 34HH and obviously expecting to get bigger as my milk comes in. Can anyone recommend food, supportive nursing bras? Also, how are you supposed to guess what size you'll need? Thanks!

I went to a GG last time and have got some nursing bras from Amazon - pack of three XL which are fab. They have an extender too.

Hi, would be helpful to know what brand/style you're currently in and how much your size has changed through your pregnancy. I wouldn't be looking to get a bigger band at this point unless your existing one is really tight, but you might need a bit of extra space in the cups.

Hotmilk Temptation is wired and goes to a J cup, it's quite firm in the band. Elomi Beatrice goes to a JJ, sister brand to Freya/Fantasie.

Royce Charlotte goes to L but if your boobs are high rooted, it will droop down and look very frumpy!

You might need to try a few.

You want Molke.

Honest.

peonyrose87 · 07/01/2021 20:18

@marriednotdead I'm still in a underwired maternity bra from bravissimo but obviously that won't last me much longer. I was a 32G pre pregnancy, so have went up but not massively yet! Thanks, I'll have a look at those ones!

I'm a G and got a nice maternity bra from figleaves, although the options were super limited. Might be because I'm a 32 back as well?
I've found it really hard to find maternity bras instead of nursing bras. I'm only 11 weeks and gone up from F to G, so don't want to invest in a nursing bra if it might not even seen me to nursing! At least the mat bras can be used as normal bras too.
Thanks to the ladies who have suggested places, I too Would love to hear more places for bigger breasts!

peonyrose87 · 07/01/2021 20:21

@LividLovely I've had a look at Molke and don't like how they look at all, but might try if they're worth it!

She is so super busy and only opens the shop once a month but Lucky Sew and Sew make made to measure non wired bras and nursing bras

peonyrose87 · 07/01/2021 20:28

@22ELF22 I managed to get measured at about 16 weeks and she said I would for sure need different sizes by 35 weeks and for nursing! So I'd recommend getting a couple that have a bit of room for growing for you to see you until then!

@peonyrose87 they might not win beauty contests, but you want comfort at this time!

An increase of a band size and 3 cups is not insignificant Grin

No matter what size you buy, most women with bigger busts go a bit Dolly Parton for a couple of weeks but they will settle!
A back extender is worth getting in case you need a little breathing space but don't want to buy more bras, loosening the shoulder straps will also allow for a bit more room in the cups.

EauDeMilk · 07/01/2021 20:43

Im a similar size and bought these in a 2xl to get the cup size. I am still wearing them for breastfeeding. They are not hugely supportive but are comfortable and the clips are decent

I clicked on your Esty link ScarletPower and was not ready for the similar suggestions Shock

ScarletPower · 07/01/2021 21:12

@TrashPanda. Oh. My. Word. LOL how can they be classed as similar items LOL

TrashPanda · 07/01/2021 21:24

I know @ScarletPower just what every nursing mother wants Grin

JohnMiddleNameRedactedSwanson · 07/01/2021 22:30

Royce. I had the Charlotte but they had a few styles.

Then once my supply had settled I adapted a well-fitting underwired bra (a Panache Tango) and I was very happy to be back in underwires!

swiftt · 07/01/2021 22:34

Following! I’ve gone from a 32H to a 34K already and I’m only 18 weeks. Blush

peonyrose87 · 08/01/2021 07:10

@JohnMiddleNameRedactedSwanson thanks, will have a look at those!! I think that's half my problem, I've never worn non underwired bras except in the house and just feel like they give no support at all!!

@JohnMiddleNameRedactedSwanson How did you adapt a normal bra, please? I've tried loads of nursing bras and am sure this is the way forward!

There are tutorials online but I will try to describe the steps.

You will need a well-fitting underwired bra where the wires do not press on any breast tissue. You can buy conversion kits on eBay, or cut the clips off an old nursing bra (I did this as I was converting a bra with very wide straps and couldn't find wide enough clips otherwise). You sew the bottom part of the clip to the top of the cup, and the top of the clip to the bra strap. Then you sew a separate piece of elastic from the base of the bra to the lower part of the strap clip, so that it stays in place when you drop the cup and doesn't ping off behind your shoulder.

This tutorial is much clearer than I have probably made it sound.

It’s good to see this thread, I was 36 H before I got pregnant. Currently 21 weeks and I’m using an extender but have had real difficulty finding large nursing bras or maternity bras. There’s a gap in the market for sure. I guess us big boobed girls aren’t supposed to reproduce.
Thanks for the suggestions folks.
