Hi ladies!
Getting ready to pack my hospital bag and i was hoping some of you could help with how much of each size to pack?? Ive had a few friends who either had babies too big for newborn or too small for 0-3 and i don't want to be without either way.
Thanks in advance! xo

My baby was 8lb8. He didn’t last newborn long and could have just worn 0-3 baggy. But I had newborn sizes so he wore fine for a few weeks at home.

So, I would say just newborn is fine. Your only going to be in max a few days, probably only 1. He wouldn’t have outgrown newborn in a week.

But I wouldn’t buy much newborn just basics. Newborn cardigans aren’t really worth it as 0-3 fine and just fold sleeve over a few weeks if needed

Newborns don’t move so whilst the sizes might be a bit baggy, they are just that. It won’t harm them to be in if you end up in the hospital with clothes that are on the big size.

Different shops also have different sizes so newborn from one could be much smaller than newborn from another. You can also get First, Up To One Month and Tiny from some shops. I’ve had babies born between 4lbs 5oz and 7lbs and all have been fine in newborn sleep suits and 0-3 vests.

I've literally packed only newborn and first size. Am thinking should throw in some 0-3 for now.
Am 38 weeks plus now so should get cracking lol.

Oneandabean · 07/01/2021 14:58

I’ve only packed 1 newborn and 2 up to 1 month. 0-3 absolutely buried my first and she was 7lb14

UnicornAndSparkles · 07/01/2021 15:02

We only needed newborn clothes. Baby arrived at 39 weeks and was 6lb 13oz. 0-3 months fitted her at around 1 month, but she wore them before as we didn't have many newborn bits. Roll sleeves up etc.

I found newborn to be fine for mine. I completely get the worry as I was the same! I second the up to one month size that some shops do as another option if it helps to have it.

Mine went through a lot of vests and sleepsuits in hospital so I took a couple of packs just in case of any extra time due to jaundice etc.

Mine were 8 pounds plus babies and my first didn't fit in newborn well. Didn't bother with that size for the next one! However 0-3 would have drowned them still. Up to 1 month or 0-1 that some shops do was the perfect size for them (both a week overdue).

I wanted one that closely fit so just got 1/2 new born just for pictures but they grow so fast definitely wouldn't get anymore new born ones. 0-3 months or even 3-6 x

ForeverHomeSearcher · 07/01/2021 20:19

I found shops that didn't do up to 1 month, e.g. boots and John Lewis, their newborn size was equivalent. Up to 1 month tends to be up to 10lbs so it should be fine. I don't have much newborn as it's about up to 7.5lbs if the shop does 0-1 month size as well. Hope that makes sense.

Next do 'up to a month'. My baby was 7lb 1 oz and is still in them at 9lb 5oz six weeks so getting some wear out of them.

Subordinateclause · 07/01/2021 21:10

Newborn/up to 1 month. Had a nearly 8lb baby last time and 0-3 much, much too big - maybe fitted at around 8 weeks.
