I'm currently feeling unwell and have booked a covid test for tomorrow morning. I just wondered what other pregnant ladies who tested positive for covid during their pregnancies, what there symptoms were? I have a fever but normal temp, achey all over especially my arms, nausea, headache and extremely tired. 36 weeks.

The increased risk of preterm birth is because if you need significant treatment (i.e. to be proned, ventilated etc) they deliver the baby early so you can receive the treatment needed. There is currently no evidence to suggest that the infection triggers preterm birth itself. The RCOG are publishing lots of useful information and studies so have a read of their stuff.

I had covid at around 24 weeks, my kids were both fine but I felt awful- whole body aches and banging headaches were the worst symptoms but I also had a cough that lasted around 6 weeks, and 2 nights of fever that were awful. I was exhausted the whole time to the point where I could barely move out of bed for the first week and I felt queasy and breathless but both of those could have been due to the pregnancy rather than the covid. I was up and about after a week and by the time I came out of isolation I was pretty much fine, just another week of feeling more tired than usual. Baby is absolutely fine, we got a private scan a couple of weeks after for reassurance and shes chubby and healthy and gorgeous. Hope you're okay

Oh and I still can't smell much 3 months later

@ShinyGreenElephant oh goodness the loss of smell and taste is horrific. Im scared mine doesnt come back, you dont realise how much you use it until you've lost it.

Thank you @Hardcoresoftie . I have booked a private scan for Tuesday (my first day out of isolation) but once I've done that I am going to try and see the gp too. I asked to have a chat with asthma nurse at my gp surgery (I'm asthmatic) to run through changes to my medication when I got the positive test result and they gave me a telephone appointment for nearly 2 weeks later (!!) but that is on Wednesday thankfully so I'll raise it with them then. At points my heart rate is in the low 50's which I don't think it has ever been before even pre-pregnancy

@PFin I wouldn't have minded so much if I wasn't pregnant, stops me eating 🤣 but I cant afford to lose weight while heavily pregnant and breastfeeding a toddler so its driving me nuts
