Self-isolating prior to planned c-section?

Hi there

I am scheduled to have a elective c-section at the end of the month. Whilst booking this the Consultant said I should isolate for 10 days prior to this date and will be asked to have a Covid test a couple of days before the clerking appt...

There was so much going on I didnt think to ask whether other members of my household also need to isolate... I am guessing policies vary by each NHS Trust but wondering if others have been in the same boat...?

I'd isolate with your birth partner if I were you. My trust aren't allowing partners in if they fail a covid test. So to maximise the chance of all going well I'd quarantine! X

Thanks, I think you are probably right, although I don't think partners are being tested here. DP is only allowed to stay for 30-60 mins post op and won't be allowed back until baby and I can be discharged in any case :(

Same here op. So ours said dh to isolate 3 days before. Could stay an hour but let him stay the afternoon on day. Also let him pop in next day for an hour.

No covid test for him. Mask except in my room.

Thank you, sounds like DP isolating beforehand is sensible, even if he is not required to! I'm glad your DH was allowed to stay a bit longer and able to pop in the next day - I was in for 5 nights after an EMCS with DC1 (including spending Xmas Day in hospital!) so just hope all is well and I'll be home sooner this time round!

@girlfrombackthen one week first time, two nights second and would have been one but I had a blood loss first night so kept in to rest.

Much easier second one I found, more mentally prepared. Good luck.
