Has anyone tried clary sage? Does it work? And which brands or shop did you get it from? I’ve looked online but there’s so many. Only 37 weeks so not looking to use yet but had induction with first and very keen to avoid it this time.

I used it and went into labour 12 hours after but it could be a coincidence. Mine was from Holland and Barrett. Mixed with olive oil and left some in a dish when having a shower. Also sniffed it on a hanky in labour.

Thanks, I didn’t know whether they’re all the same or if there’s different types. How far along we’re you when you used it

40 weeks. Just buy the basic stuff from H&B but if you put on your skin you must mix with an oil first.

If it's going to work, your body needs to be ready to go into labour anyway.

I used it from 37 weeks with both and they were 8 and 9 days late

Yeah I used it with my third, as my first two were extremely overdue (2 weeks ish for both) and I wanted to avoid a third induction. I didn't start to use it until I reached 40 weeks though. It's pretty potent. I used a couple of drops in a carrier oil and mixed it with a body lotion to rub on my bump. Used it twice a day and as PP said also had a drop on a hanky under my pillow. Went into slow labour after 2 days which I didn't really recognise - thought it was Braxton Hicks - then suddenly into full labour on day 4. From first strong contraction to giving birth was 2 hours. To this day I don't know whether it was the fact it was my 3rd birth, or the clary sage, but I definitely think it helped speed things up. I got mine from Boots.

I used it in the bath from 37 weeks a few times and it didn't work as I went into labour at 40+1. It also gave me thrush from the bath!

I had read online that it can increase your chance of a post partum haemorrhage, which I thought nothing of really. I had an emcs and lost 2.5L of blood (this is not only a haemorrhage, but huge blood loss).

I used it, gave me horrific contractions which did absolutely nothing, except mean that when I did go into labour I was exhausted.
