Private midwife: tip or present

Hello there,
I have come out today of a private clinic where i gave birth.
I am not usually the “private hospital” type of person but the midwife was AMAZING.

I really want to thank her.

I was thinking of buying her a present (big flower bucket + bottle of champagne) but then thought it might too small for what other people might give her and wondered whether a tip was better. But then I feared it might be offensive.

I am not British and i am not sure what it is customary here. Can you please help?

If it’a tip, how much? I won’t be able to go on a % basis.

Thank you in advance for your help

Nothing is customary. A box of biscuits and a thank you card maybe.

There are strict rules (in the NHS at least) about what you can and cannot accept so they might not be able to take your gift.

I very much doubt the hospital would allow her to keep a cash gift, However flowers / chocolate or a nice pen and a thank you card would go down very well. Also an email to her manager never goes a miss
