C section overhang

I'm 3 weeks post section and have a small overhang. I'm well aware that it may never go but am looking for tips on how to reduce it. I've been massaging the area around the scar (too scared to touch scar just yet even though my recovery has been pretty quick but I'm likely still swollen etc). Will it be worth buying a belly band to help flatten the area, I've read mixed reviews? Thanks

I have an apron belly and had a section 2 weeks ago. I shower everyday and dry it with the cool setting of the hair dryer. And I sleep on my back to air it during the night. Its healing well. No belly band

Oh, Sweetheart! It will go away pretty soon..just give it a bit more time. I had a cSection 33 years ago and didn't wear a belly band. Several friends didnt wear one either..The overhang went away all on its own...I never even noticed when it did. DS was born in Sept and by December I was able to wear my 2 piece swimming costume just fine..
When the Dr. says you can start exercises, I'd ask if you can work on your core. That will tighten up your whole core area which will also help with lifting your LO.
Now I DO have to disclose this though...when you get old like me and you start to lose the elastin in your skin you may have a slight bulge above the incision...but that's at least 30 years in your future .
Enjoy your baby!

@juleypooly
I forgot to add...if you feel more support and comfortable with the belly band, by all means wear one

Aw thanks for the replies! Gives me some hope! I saw my midwife yesterday who said they never go! Anyway, it is what it is. I have my beautiful baby as a result and I'm not too concerned. Was just wondering if there's anything I can do to help it along! Once I'm able I'll get on the exercise. Thank you.

I’ve had 3 c sections. I’m sure for some people they never go but you need to eat very well and exercise regularly. Get yourself an ab wheel!! Even now when I’ve put weight on over lockdown I don’t have any overhang.
Congratulations!

Excellent thanks, I'll look into getting one
