I’m having a stretch and sweep Monday at 39 weeks
I had them previous with my two girls slightly over due and went into labour hours after.
Should I expect same or not feel too hopeful just incase?? Smile

It could go either way really, I had 2 done before my induction the other day, one at 39+1 and the other at 39+3 and both times I was 3cm dilated already and my cervix was very favourable but the most that happened for me was a few pains that lasted a few hours and I lost my plug. I still ended up having my waters broke at 39+5 so they didn't work for me. Good luck and I hope it works for you.

Ps it was my 4th pregnancy and the midwives were convinced it was going to work, how wrong they were lol x

@Maidmummy I have always thought it’s a bit hit or miss! Thank you!! Yeah they said the same about this being my third but we will see 😂😂 they said if it doesn’t work they will try waters/inducing methods!x

It'll depend on where your cervix is at, as you probably know.

I had one yesterday at 40+5 (desperate to avoid the induction I've got booked on Friday) but it was a waste of time, to be honest. I'm not dilated or effaced enough to do the full sweep so all the MW could do was have a bit of a rummage.

I had three barely-noticeable period-like pains which could have been the baby stretching if I'm honest over the course of yesterday evening and then nothing else.
