Baby engaged/labour starting?

Hi all,
I’m 31 weeks this week and baby has been very low for about 2 weeks now. He was head down at last appointment but not engaged according to midwife. This week I’ve had rolling movement (I assume his hands near his face) so low down it feels like if he went any further he’d be out! 😂 I’ve had lightning crotch for about a week or so and have at least a hands width between the bottom of my rib cage and his bottom.

Midwife is a bit concerned he’s leaning towards the small side by comparison to my older 2 so I am worried about an early arrival. But everything I’ve read suggests that any baby after your first may not engage until labour starts. Has anyone had baby engaged and so low for this long and gone to term? Xx

I have no advice but am practically in the same boat as you!! I’m 31+2 (although this is my 5th) had midwife yesterday and baby’s head is 2/5 palp- so 3/5 engaged, and also having extra growth scan due to being small (5th centile) interested to hear others stories as it feels like she’s going to fall out lol!! Xxx

It’s not uncommon for subsequent babies to engage and disengage through the pregnancy so they are probably bobbing in and out quite frequently!

My second popped in and out of my pelvis for weeks and weeks. He was 9 days late

my DD was head down and engaged from 20 weeks, and she was 9 days late!

There was a thread like this a week or so ago if you scan through, all seemed to say they'd had a similar where it felt like baby was nearly out but they went to term.

My baby was head down and head engaged from 30 weeks. I went to 40+6

sazzysazz337 · 06/01/2021 17:48

DS was head down engaged from 29 weeks, he was born at 38+2

Raindancer411 · 06/01/2021 17:52

Yes my second was in position early on but I ended up late and having an induction. First was 3 days early!!

Thanks all, thought this might be the case. I’m not sure why he’s comfy with his head jammed down there! I don’t think he’s bobbing in and out as is permanently low.
I’d imagine he’ll be late, my older 2 were over and I’m sure OH runs on his own personal time Grin x

My first was like this from 20 weeks and was a week late.
Bloody uncomfortable!

Dc3 was born at 36+4, both dc1&2 were late, just incase you’re like me and everything is up in the loft and nothing packed Grin
