Hi all I wonder if anyone can help before I contact the GP.

I’m 12 weeks and can’t sleep. As in I fall asleep fine but wake up so many times and it’s not because I need to wee or that i’m anxious. Is there anything I can take thats safe during pregnancy?

@Nobunintheovenyet Hey! I'm due at the end of the month and really struggling with sleep. Like you, falling asleep isn't the issue, it's the waking frequently.

Unfortunately, I've not taken anything so can't advise you on that but I have found if I start to read, I usually doze off again. Avoid looking on your phone when you wake up as that makes it much harder to sleep, in my opinion.

Congratulations on your pregnancy Smile

Thank hun.

I have a kindle and read until i literally cant keep my eyes open.

Think ill pop to the chemist today and see if they advise anything.

Congrats too xx

I've had a similar problem since 16w. I contacted my GP who told me there were no pharmaceutical options he'd prescribe me due to insufficient evidence of safety. He suggested self-referral for talking therapy (which I've done - waiting to hear back but not sure how it'll help as like you my insomnia isn't anxiety related and I have no issues falling asleep). Sorry to not offer a more optimistic suggestion! You might get different advice of course.

Same problem here, I’m 10 weeks +5. I fall asleep without a problem but then end up waking up what feels like every 20mins! 😂😂😫😫
I think that it’s my subconsciousness worrying about ending up sleeping on my tummy and hurting the baby, or just general worry about the baby. No matter what I do I just can’t seem to be able to sleep through and I’ve always been one of those people that really need 8hrs to feel like a normal person. I just accepted that this is how I’ll be in the next 6 months and who knows, maybe it’s my body preparing me for the sleep deprivation that will come once the baby is born.😉🤣
Try using a pregnancy pillow-I’ve order one so hopefully it will help a bit xx

Suffering here too. I'm exhausted so fall asleep easily but then awake for hours in the early hours of the morning. Absolutely shattered. 14 weeks now and been like this fo Las few weeks. Prior to that I had awful sickness so was in bed most of the day anyway. Got a pregnancy pillow, it does help get comfy buy not with the whirring brain.

I had horrible insomnia throughout this pregnancy and it was at its worst in the first tri.

Unfortunately it comes with the package sometime. I did find keeping my bedroom nice and cool, and using a pregnancy pillow
( even that early on) helped. I also tried to avoid coffee and sugary foods before bed
( so no dessert with dinner). Oh and camomile tea. My midwife was reluctant to suggest sleep aids even over the counter herbal ones so this was my only option.

Good luck, bad sleep is horrible. I have every sympathy for you.

No solutions, but I am 7 weeks and cannot sleep either. Exactly the same as you - keep waking up really early.

12w4d I think I get one good night every 2 weeks. It's so rough ! I'm so sorry you're all going through it too !
I've tried pillow sprays, humidifiers, meditation, hiding my phone in the drawer, reading, reading boring stuff, no caffeine everything but no luck !
