Pressure down below at 17 weeks?

Bit of a weird one but got myself a bit worried. I’m 17+4 and all day have had a really heavy feeling like pressure in what feels like my bum/vag area. Blush it’s quite uncomfortable, I went for a poop earlier and thought that would have made it better but I’ve still got this super heavy feeling. Could it just be trapped wind, or is this a normal pregnancy thing? I get trapped wind quite often but that usually manifests itself as pain in my stomach. I woke up a few times during the night with what felt like stomach ache when you’ve eaten something dodgy, but that’s gotten a bit better throughout the day.

Basically, is this normal or should I call my MW? I hate to call them for daft things but I’m getting myself worried!

It all sounds normal but if you're worried, I'd call. Better to put your mind at ease

I had this on Saturday and like yourself worried. Luckily it's now subsided, but any longer I'd have called the community widwives. I'm 23 weeks.

I had a feeling similar to this at about 17 weeks quite late at night. I had strange "tightening" type feeling across my tummy as well and I got myself so worried I ended up in A&E convinced I was in premature labour (this was after an anxious late night call to NHS111 where they told me to pack a change of clothes, lots of sanitary pads and get myself to hospital ASAP. Obviously they have to cover themselves just in case anything is wrong). Everything was completely fine.

Looking back I think it was just that the baby was quite low down and the tightening was actually just them moving about across my tummy. I'd only started feeling a few kicks about a week or so before and this is my first so I wasn't really used to them. Now at 27 weeks I get the same feeling all the time and know it's just them squirming.

Obviously it's hard to know exactly what you're feeling and I'd say call your MW - they get lots of calls about "daft" things but that's what they are there for. Better you get to talk to an expert than get more worried. You won't be the first or the last!

Thanks ladies.

I called the local midwives, they’ve advised me to drink lots of water tonight (I haven’t drunk much at all today) and put my feet up, and let them know if I’m in pain or bleeding. I think it’s possibly just trapped wind, as I do get some relief when I fart... Blush

I have just woken up to the same thing. It’s like a dull ache and tightening across my lower belly just above my knickers. I’m a 17 weeks and not had any pain before and a little anxious anyway but this is not helping me sleep.

Hopefully gone by the morning if not I’ll have to ring MW.

@Scarftown that sounds like mine! It feels much better today though. How are you feeling today?

Yeah all gone this morning and no other signs to suggest I should have been worried. I am going to assume it’s like Mimba said and the baby just went low and stretched me. I’m not sure I like all this keeping me on my toes and worry but I suppose I should get used to it.
