I don't enjoy him kicking....

I'm now 29 weeks pregnant and don't get me wrong, feeling him move is good because I know he's OK but I really don't enjoy the feeling. It's not even painful (most of the time) but I just don't enjoy the feeling. Sometimes it's startling when it's just one big kick. Sometimes it feels like there's just pressure inside. Sometimes it just feels weird and I can't explain it.

But generally I really don't enjoy the feeling and fed up of reading forums and articles calling it a Precious Moment. It really doesn't feel like it.

Am I alone here or does anyone else not enjoy feeling the alien inside them?

Your defo not alone. Im only 22 weeks atm with 2nd baby so feeling very light movement its just like wee taps from inside but they juat give me a freaky feeling. With my first I hated it too and the further I got the worse it felt. As you said just take comfort in the fact you know baby is ok!

Rtmhwales · 04/01/2021 00:46

I hated it. DS kicked in the same part over and over again until I got a fractured rib at 29 weeks. Thankfully he came early at 31 weeks. I don't know how people cope with the feeling.

HungryHippo20 · 04/01/2021 08:05

Not just you! I'm 30 + 4 and more often than not I find it weird!!! I enjoy little taps but the big ones literally make me gasp!! I'm now starting to see my tummy moving and I find it creepy!! That said if she doesn't move I find myself tapping at my belly so I do want to feel her kicks but I agree it isn't always enjoyable like people describe!

Thirdlifecrisis · 04/01/2021 08:47

Not alone at all. There's nothing precious about being kicked repeatedly in the intestines. I compare mine to a chestburster alien frequently, but if I don't feel anything for a while I'll want to feel a movement just to just everything's ok. The absence of movent can be worrying but the movements thselves are not fun!

Lifeonmars12 · 04/01/2021 09:01

I’m exactly the same. I’m 23 weeks and have felt her move since 17 weeks. Then it was only little taps but now it’s full scale kicks and on Saturday she kicked right down towards my groin and it really hurt. So whilst I get its reassuring at times, I hate hate hate the feeling. It’s all worth it in the end though lol.

Not alone at all. 28 weeks here and I wouldn't say it's enjoyable at all.
As you said, good to know they're okay. That's the only thing I like about the kicks!
I often sit there pulling a face whilst she's kicking away haha

UpToMyElbowsInDiapers · 04/01/2021 17:06

Wait. People ENJOY it?!! I’m a fan of the 20-week little flutters, but when a 30-weeker is doing somersaults or a 39-weeker is pushing up again ribs, lungs and bladder all at once, how can anyone feel it is anything but torture???

thetinselbadge · 04/01/2021 17:08

I loved it but I can understand why other people might not. Your feelings are valid!

SunnySideUp2020 · 04/01/2021 18:17

It's not physically enjoyable no... but it's really nice to feel they are moving and healthy!

TisTheSeasonToEatLots · 04/01/2021 18:30

You aren’t alone, I’ve always hated it and I’m on my 3rd, I can’t even touch my bump the feeling goes through me. I always joke that I must be missing the gene that women who sit stroking their bumps and thinking it’s wonderful have. When they full on roll over and you can see it, no no no. I’m nearly 33 weeks now so the full on rolls are in full flow. My husband finds it hilarious, I actually have to get him to rub oil on my belly everyday (to prevent stretch marks - worked so far) as I just can’t even touch it to do that!
