Please help us to settle an argument at work!

How long is a newborn baby? Is it really about 20 inches and is this measured from head to toe?

Thanks so much

depends, there is an average lenthg, not sure what it is, and is head to toe

VoodooLULUmama · 25/10/2007 20:34

20 inches sounds about right

SeaShells · 25/10/2007 20:36

Yes 20inches or 50cms.

CorpseBrideOfJohnCusack · 25/10/2007 20:39

20 inches is 50.8 cm which I suppose might be about average

both of mine were 57cm however....

and yes, head to toe measurment at birth. measured head to rump in scans though I think as legs are all curled up

Thanks for your answers!

I just can't believe that something so big could be stowed away inside me!

This can vary so much depending upon the height of the parents, although around 20" is the average

DD was 22.5" (I'm 5'11" & DH 6'4"), but a friend's DS was 28.5" , but then she's also 5'11" & her DH is 6'7"
