Nursing chair advice

Hi, I’m looking for some advice on whether nursing chairs are worth the money?

I’m 5 months pregnant with my second, I BF my first and used a rocking chair we already had but it wasn’t great (low back so uncomfortable for head/ neck and was quite deep so hard to stand up from while holding a sleeping baby) so I’m looking to get something new.

Most nursing chairs seem to be £150/250- are they worth the money or can anyone suggest a cheaper alternative that does the job just as well? This is likely to be our last baby so I won’t be reusing it (but could sell on), but equally we’re not having to buy much this time round so if it is worth the money I will treat myself! I like the look of the Obaby Deluxe but the cheapest I can see it is £187 at the moment.

The Ikea poang rocking chair is £110 in the plain cream.

Your best bet is to go secondhand though, the traditional "nursing chairs" don't fit in with the look of most peoples' living rooms, so a lot of parents get rid once they get out of the bottle/BF stage.

I also got the IKEA poang chair - I bought the one which doesn’t rock but still bounces gently. I got one in dark grey with thicker padding for £85 which is very comfy and supports up to my head, and goes nicely in the nursery

I had a nursing chair (still have it) it was just a comfy chair in the bedroom where I sat feeding and relaxing. I still have it in the bedroom. Basically I'd say just get a chair you like and can relax in with a little side table.

I got the ikea poang chair that rocks - I only really used it once DD went into her own room at 6 months (before then I just fed in bed as bf). It was great but the bigger she got the harder it was to position her comfortably in it. I probably only used it for 6 months as she gave up bf and bottles pretty quickly.

I also used a regular Poang chair and footstool.
Really comfy and much more versatile than a nursing chair.

I'm not convinced of the usefulness of a nursing chair as a specific chair but I found it handy having a nice chair in the bedroom. For nursing, well maybe, but certainly as a comfy chair to go and sit and relax while husband or Grand parents looked after the little ones.

We had a Poang but if you have a long baby you can end up bonking them on the armrests a bit. We also have an IKEA Strandmon (sp?) plus footstool which I actually found more comfy to feed in, although it doesn’t move. I always quite liked sitting in the feeding chairs in the baby feeding room in places like John Lewis but never enough to splash out for one..,

The Strandmon also works well as a bedtime story chair when they’re bigger, more so than the poang.

I didn't get a nursing chair for ages - mainly because of the cost - but did eventually get one on Facebook market place. Had to keep an eye out for a little while, but a few came up. Got it for around £40. Now wish I'd got one a lot sooner! Its fab.

I had the IKEA, then my fat arse broke it so got a nursing chair when my baby was 1. I have no idea why I didn't get one in the first place it is so much more comfortable! Would definitely recommend getting one. Even now I have stopped feeding we often sit in it together

I love my nursing chair. It was definitely worth the investment. Still use it as storyline chair for 3yo DS. We now have DC2 on the way so will hopefully get at least another 3 years out of it!

I was umming and ahhing about a nursing chair, I grabbed one off Facebook last night, and honestly, I am so glad I did. It's so comfy, the back as adjustable so you can sit up right or lay back slightly, the arms feel like the perfect height for feeding.
The cats like to curl up on it too 😂
