First time Mum meeting people suggestions - Poole, Dorset

Hello
This is a bit of a specific one...
I’m due my first baby in April and also moving counties to Dorset (Poole) in Feb. Great timing!
Even though I am originally from the area, my plan with my Husband was to join nct and other courses to meet people. Obviously these are all online now annoyingly. We’re still going to do an nct one - but local hospital antenatal classes are cancelled.
Wondering what others are doing to meet mums to be? It’s really thrown me and hoping there might be some suggestions/groups or even local people out there reading this (long shot!)
I won’t have much support in the area, so was hoping to have some mum pals.
Any suggestions would be so helpful
Thanks
Xxxxxx

Look for a local church with good toddler activities- that's how I've met loads of local mums

Not from that area but have I had my first baby last year so been in similar position!
You can try apps like Peanut to meet new mums. I managed to find a few mums who live very local to me through it and it’s been very useful! You could also see if there are any local baby classes running like baby sensory, sing and sign, baby yoga. The group leaders normally set up a WhatsApp group for the class so you can chat and get to the know the mums outside the class

Also if you use Facebook, look for groups called ‘mums on mat leave in your area’ or similar

Thank you so much, very helpful - hadn’t thought of any of them xxxx

Hello - I am in Poole too. Due in July, so a bit after you! I was on here looking for the same thing as you. I actually want to do the classes online but can't find anything..... Happy to chat x

Hi, I’m in Ringwood so pretty close. Also due in April. Happy to chat and meet up. We moved here a couple of years ago from Scotland so have met friends through work and the gym but don’t have any mum friends!

I'm local to you, I'm due my second in July. There's a Facebook group called Poole mummy meets, I also found baby sensory classes and swimming lessons good places to meet mums! There is also antenatal classes again now I think, the mums on Poole mummy meets are lovely though and welcoming of all situations and age of babies so would definitely be a good place to start!

Thank you ladies. Lovely to meet you! I realise when I posted earlier that the original msg was from Jan 2021 - not 2022!! Doh. I am not on Facebook (& don’t want to be) so won’t be able to join that group, sadly. If any of us wanted to connect “offline” via this thread, how do we do that? I have only joined Mumsnet today! Wink

Hi, im from Dorchester so not far away and due my first bubba in March :)
I actually know 3 other people also pregnant that are all due March/April but not overly confident so the idea of meeting new people scares me. Going to watch some videos on youtube instead of doing antenatal classes.

Hey MrsCotton - not long to go for you. Bet you are excited. I would definitely have preferred an opportunity to meet people online via Zoom. I am not very keen on the sitting in a circle thing! Its great that you know 3 other pregnant ladies. You have your group already Flowers

Hey :) ive got just over 9 weeks to go. We are very excited but nervous to being our first. In the process of making sure we got everything we need. I agree, not keen on sitting in a circle. 2 of the other people i know already have children (one has 4 already) so dont think ill see them often. Plan to stay home for the first few weeks, im very homely and love being at home 😍
