Hello,

I am around 5 weeks pregnant and I hadn't realised that overheating could cause harm to the baby, I sat next to a fireplace for hours yesterday as I was feeling so cold but now a bit panicked after realising that wasn't wise to do! Any one got any reassuring stories or advice?

Relax it's fine.

Try not to worry lovely, remember a lot of people don’t realise they are even pregnant at 5 weeks and go about doing things like that and worse. You’ll be ok ☺️

People live in hot countries and have health pregnancies. Don't worry 😊

Well if you were cold you didn't overheat.

You'd need to change your core body temperature quite significantly to do that

Thank you ladies for the reassuring and kind words! I think my anxiety is just at it's peak at the moment, and worrying about everything! My husband put the heating off and this morning said my face was a bit red which then got me worrying. That's a good point about hot countries so hopefully it's fine, and I hope I haven't done any damage.

Oh don’t be so stupid!

I know to some it can seem silly and irrational! pregnancy can cause anxiety especially in those who already suffer from anxiety. I was just asking for some reassurance from those who were happy to provide it!

You need to raise your body temperature as other poster had commented, being in the shower for too long when the water is super hot or in the steam room etc

OP I sit on the floor with my back against the radiator often and I’m at 23 weeks and baby is fine. I wouldn’t worry.

Thank you, I just hadn't realised the dangers of overheating in the first trimester but definitely something I'll be careful about now.
