I got my implant out 9 months ago, i’ve been tracking ovulation, taking ovulation test sticks and been getting positives so i know i’m defiantly ovulating, been trying all this time and still no baby sick of feeling heart broken every month, does anybody know why it is not happening for me, what should i do?

I'm not sure, sounds like all is okay. Might it be worth getting a semen analysis?

Greencauliflowers · 02/01/2021 21:44

I don’t know the answer I’m afraid. I’m almost 3 years on the journey and every month gets harder. I know it’s not what you want to hear, but GPs won’t send you for fertility testing until it’s been 12 months 😩 I feel your pain though Flowers

ameighjane · 02/01/2021 21:45

@Greencauliflowers do u know if fertility testing is free?

OP posts:
ameighjane · 02/01/2021 21:45

@c307 would they test sperm without testing me first? how could i go about getting that done, so many questions i know, sorry

Have you tried measuring your temp? I used an app and, during the first month of temping, we fell pregnant - I was ovulating (according to my temp rising) a full 3 days after positive OPKs! Wish I'd known that earlier. I might have just been lucky but worth a shot? Good luck!

Greencauliflowers · 02/01/2021 21:48

Yes it is on the NHS. Your GP will have to do a referral. GP has to do blood tests first and then a referral can be done to the fertility clinic but they won’t accept it until it’s been a year of trying. GP will also probably talk to you about diet/weight as that’s important. It’s all frustrating I know

ameighjane · 02/01/2021 22:32

@Wanderdust i’m not sure how to do it

OP posts:
ameighjane · 02/01/2021 22:33

@Greencauliflowers that is good to know tbh, i’m just really starting to worry cos it has been so long, does anyone think the implant could have effected this

maloney123 · 02/01/2021 22:35

My friend was trying for a year before she got pregnant. She now has two little ones so don’t give up

TildaTurnip · 02/01/2021 22:37

It is unlikely the implant will be the reason.

Is it always 12 months to wait for testing or is it less of over 35? Not sure if this affects you OP or not.

ameighjane · 02/01/2021 22:40

@TildaTurnip i suppose i’ll just have to wait the extra months thrn

@ameighjane I was two years almost trying before I got pregnant and am now here with my month old baby. It can be so hard but try and stay positive. once you get past 12 months contact your doctor for testing. I held off and first month after going I got pregnant so it can sometimes be something very simple.

ThisMammaCat · 03/01/2021 00:17

Depending on your age they may refer after 6 months. It's worth reaching out to your GP about this now whether or not your age fits the criteria for the 6 months, because at least they'll be aware of you.

welshladywhois40 · 03/01/2021 07:36

Yes how old are you? If you are over 35 the GP will see you after 6 months. This was me.

I went to see my GP after 6 months of trying at age 37. She ordered blood tests to check I was ovulating and advised that my partner needed to do a sperm test first.

Much easier to test the man that start invasive procedures on a women.

She also depressingly said even if you manage to have sex on the right day - conception is only a 30% chance. I cried at those words.

BeingATwatItsABingThing · 03/01/2021 07:41

I’m 26 and it took 13 cycles to conceive DD2. DD1 was conceived whilst I was on the pill so I really didn’t think conceiving again would take as long as it did. She is now 15w old.

It’s quite normal for it to take up to a year to conceive. Try not to lose hope (easier said than done, I know).

ameighjane · 04/01/2021 19:13

@welshladywhois40 nah i’m not over 35

OP posts:
ameighjane · 04/01/2021 19:14

@BeingATwatItsABingThing i didn’t know what was normal like how long it takes to fall pregnant because it seems so happn to fast for everyone else.

OP posts:
ivfbeenbusy · 04/01/2021 19:16

It can take several months after having the implant out for hour cycles to return to normal. Just because you are getting a positive OPK doesn't mean you are actually ovulating - you'd have to have follicle tracking ultrasound scans for that.

Fertility testing is available on the NHS but you'd need to be trying at least 12 months before you can get a referral and for some trusts it's 2 years. There are also fairly long wait times at the moment due to covid

Lola19 · 04/01/2021 20:04

How many times are you BD during your fertile week? Are you doing it enough in the run up to ovulation? I found the first month that I stopped focusing on trying to hit my ovulation day and focused on the days running up to it and having enough sperm up there waiting on the egg I fell preg after 9 months!

ameighjane · 04/01/2021 20:21

@Lola19 what does bd mean? and been having sex everyday

OP posts:
ploopypleepy · 04/01/2021 20:24

You can buy sperm tests online ... one that measures motility and count. My dp did one when it was taking a while to conceive. At least it will give you an idea and only cost about £20

ameighjane · 04/01/2021 21:16

@ploopypleepy what do they do? like if it’s low sperms like what should i do

OP posts:
horsey92 · 04/01/2021 22:37

I'll be 8 weeks tomorrow, but it took us majority of last year to get here! I had been on the pill for 11 years none stop (I literally only ever missed 2 pills in that whole entire time) I thought I'd messed up by being on it for so long!
I got so angry every month when my period arrived, some days I'd just sit and cry.

I changed jobs in November, as I was in a job I hated. I was stressed and unhappy all the time, swapped jobs became so much happier and relaxed and that obviously helped.

It is tough, but try not to get so disheartened!

It can certainly seem like that. Flowers
