Weight gain, first trimester. HELP :(

I’ve gained 7.5lb in the first trimester!! 🙈 I was advised 2-5lb. I mean I can’t say I’m surprised with the scales result today as all I could eat was carbs and barely moved where I was so sick and tired so exercise was no more and then, Christmas.....

Someone tell me it’ll all be OK 😂😭

It will be fine! You aren't overweight so you don't need to worry. First trimester is hard! Hopefully your second will be easier on you and you can eat better and be more active, but even then I say this this to help you be fit for labour. Everyone's weight gain is going to be different - please don't worry.

Don't worry at all. I put on a stone in my first trimester and then stopped weighing myself. All was fine, I kept fit(ish) and had a straightforward birth. Six months post partum I went on a diet and lost most of the baby weight (a stone and a half at that point). Do what you've got to do and relax x

And I started at a similar weight to you as well so a totally normal weight!

I put lots of weight on during my first trimester (around a stone) and into my third and haven’t put much more on maybe another 0.5. I am not worried though as during my second and third I’ve tried to be more active and eat healthier. Just balancing and getting through pregnancy!!!

OP:

I put on 5kg between 5-14 weeks but none since (now 18). I wasn't overweight to start with. I definitely haven't been eating for 2!! I have maintained a pre-pregnancy level of exercise 5+days.

Before i got pregnant I'd been training really hard. I was at a goal weight and 'athletic body fat' percentage. I'd lost about 6kg in a year to do so and it was very, very hard work!

The rapid weight gain was scary but I figure it must be fluid and also my body lying down a bit of the fat it needs. Luckily the weight gain has plateaued for now. I think I can see where it has gone...it's mostly belly bulge and my chest has absolutely ballooned!

I've gained about the same (I know, Christmas) and I'm a similar weight to you. It's all averages, a friend lost 2st in her first trimester. I woudlnt worry.

I can relate with the weight gain -
I was eating everything in sight up until about week 8, which has unsurprisingly caused a lot of weight gain!
I planned to be healthy and exercise but felt so exhausted and nauseous, so told myself eating would help my energy levels and stop the nausea.
After the working day (9 hours on my feet), I wouldn’t be bothered to cook anything and would eat so much toast, pastas, cereals and stupidly, chocolate or sugary snacks.
I’m hoping to start exercising and really focus on eating well when I hopefully have more energy in my second trimester.

I really hope the weight balances out at people say!!
