I'm 20 weeks today and I still haven't felt any movement :(
It's my first baby and my scans next week.
Has anyone else experienced this?
Many thanks xxx

Hey @lilly02 some people don't feel movement until around early 20 weeks and especially if it's your first as you tend not to notice. Also location of the placenta plays a role as if you have an anterior placenta you're less likely to feel baby unlike a posterior placenta. I'm 18 weeks with my third, felt flutters a few weeks and nothing. Anterior placenta was confirmed at scan yesterday. Congrats.x

I haven't felt anything yet either. I had my 20 week scan on Tuesday and she confirmed I had an anterior placenta so wasn't worried. Plus the baby was moving nicely on the scan. She said it just comes a few weeks later when it is anterior

Didn’t feel anything ( and even still gentle popping ) until yesterday which actually was my 20 weeks scan day. Had 2 previous anterior placentas so was sure it was that but nope posterior . Little man was whizzing around but I think I just process it later .

WalkingMeAway · 01/01/2021 18:08

You may find you have an anterior placenta. My first I didn’t feel until 23 weeks ! Watched her jumping about all the place at my 20w scan which was surreal. Hard not to worry I know x

Some people don’t feel movements until 24 weeks, try not to worry too much

Pumpertrumper · 01/01/2021 18:14

Don’t worry OP
With my DS they started asking me about feeling movement at pretty much every med apt from 16 weeks (I had HG so extra med apts) really freaked me out!

By 18 weeks I was panicking but I think it was maybe 19/20 felt a slight flutter. Could have easily mistaken it for gas had it not been so repetitive in the same place. It’s really common on a first baby to not feel stuff until later. Try sitting/laying quietly and having a gentle prod of your tummy. I apply a bit of pressure to either side of baby with a flat palm. Can get them wiggling.

I’m 16 weeks with DC2 now and have felt a slight flutter already.

First child? It takes some practice to identify baby movements.

They start light and only do proper kicks and rolls later. By now the movements feel like gas. Do you feel gas moving in your intestines? It's probably baby Grin

This is my second baby and I'm nearly 22 weeks. Still basically no movement.

JLM1008 · 01/01/2021 19:07

I was worried about the same thing. I’m pregnant with #3 and when I had my 20 week scan they confirmed anterior placenta. I started feeling movements around 22 weeks and now at 25 weeks I get full on kicks that my husband can feel. Hopefully at your scan they will tell you the location of placenta and that might explain why you aren’t feeling anything yet.

Polkadot123 · 01/01/2021 19:39

I didn’t start to feel movements till about 24/25 weeks and felt the same as you did. It’s my first and my placenta is at the front which apparently makes them less noticeable. I’m now 30 weeks and been woken up at 2am by them 🤣 Honestly don’t worry too much. If you get to 24 weeks and still no movements then talk to your midwife :)
