Cot sheets - waterproof?

Hi everyone,

This might be a silly question but do you put waterproof sheets on the cot? I have bought a Chicco Next2Me and fitted sheets but now wondering whether I am supposed to buy a mattress protector or waterproof sheets?

Not a waterproof sheet but should stick a breathable mattress protector under the sheet.

There are several companies which make these.

If you can get a waterproof sheet then do that because it takes away the need to get a mattress protector as well. The less layers you have for them to potentially get wrapped up in when they're tiny, the better

It really depends on how vomity and pooey your baby is. I bought a waterproof cot sheet which was organic, soft cotton and totally different to them crepey, rustley waterproof adult sheets.

But DD didn’t ever need it, she didn’t chuck up or leak through even once so it was a bit of a waste.

I’d probably just use two cot sheets and then when the baby arrives get one on Amazon if you have a puker.

I never had a waterproof mattress protector on my chicco next to me (not sure they do them, but never looked) but I do have one under the normal cot bed sheets

We reused the next to me for our second DS but just replaced the mattress and it was relatively cheap (£40 I think from memory)

I've just got a mattress protector for the next to me crib 👍🏻
