Hello! Smile

I was wondering if anyone has been dealing with depression during pregnancy and has taken antidepressants for it? Are there any likely risks? Did they help? I’m currently 16 weeks.

My midwife told me never to be ashamed to ask for them given my history with MDD and PTSD. She said they are safe (the specific ones they prescribe for pregnancy) but it seems everyone’s midwife has a different opinion on it online.

I’ve not been taking medication for a while but have felt like I’ve needed some help in the past month or so. My MIL and my husband are the only people in my family I feel I can talk to about it right now, but I don’t want to have to keep doing that. Sad

Sending love! I'm 23 weeks and back on Sertraline as I started to feel highly anxious again around 16 weeks onwards. It has helped me no end and is the safest one to take whist pregnant/breastfeeding. Definitely have a chat with your GP, even if it just takes the edge off until baby is here?

@abitfunny Thank you for the info and sharing your experience! I think I’ll give my GP a call tomorrow. Smile

Hello, I'm 21 weeks and just started on sertraline today. I've been on it in the past and it's helped massively but never whilst pregnant which has given me a degree of anxiety. The perinatal mental health midwife has assured me they're fine, the risks are low and many women take them during pregnancy. In fact it was her who advised me to restart my prescription. We're hoping they'll help me avoid PND this time around too. Good luck with the GP
