Cramps at 4 weeks!

Hello!

This is my first time posting on here and hope to get some support. I'm currently 4weeks + 4 days. We found out on Christmas Eve and have been TTC for 3 months. We're so happy and my partner is so laid back and chilled about everything where as I just can't stop googling every little thing.

I started with stomach cramps today in my lower left side and also trapped wind. I'm so so scared of having a MC or ectopic pregnancy. My anxiety is through the roof because I was so happy when we found out. Did anyone else get cramps without blood or any other symptoms? How did you calm yourself down before your scan? We have also booked in for an early scan at 7 weeks because I just can't wait long enough until 12 weeks. Part of me wishes I hadn't found out so early as my mind is in overdrive. I'm struggling to sleep.

First of all, congratulations! Flowers I will be 9 weeks tomorrow and I have just looked back on my app... I was also getting very mild (period like) cramps around that time which I was aware of on and off. It made me feel as though my period was going to come any moment but I think it’s just where your body is changing and things are stretching and stuff. If you’re experiencing trapped wind as well, that’s probably not helping with the cramping either. Try and add more fibre to your diet to help that Smile. I had an early scan last week too (due to some bleeding) and just so you know all was OK with baby, they saw he/she lying there with a little heartbeat so try not to panic. My partner is really chilled out too, if he was any more relaxed he would walk horizontal! But it does help when you have that kind of support around you Smile. I have made a massive effort in the last week to stop googling absolutely everything and honestly, it helps! I have decided if I am concerned that much about something then I will speak with my midwife rather than trying to self diagnose myself Smile xo

Congratulations to you!

Thank you so much for taking the time to reply to me. I can't wait for our early scan at the moment it's what's keeping me going. I am such a pain with googling things I feel like if I can just get through these next couple of weeks to the early scan I can calm down just a tad. I'm driving my partner round the bend. He's trying watch football and I'm just chewing his ear off about what these cramps could be lol.

I hope you have a peaceful pregnancy and healthy baby

@Dan3i No problem! Smile What date is your early scan? It’s good you have that! I had what I can only describe as a gush of red blood when I went to the loo a couple of weeks ago which only happened once without any pain but obviously I was anxious too and googling all sorts. The minute I had my scan it really put my mind at ease and like you, I don’t think I could have waited until 12 weeks to see if “things were OK.” Here’s hoping the wait isn’t too painful for you and it comes around fast! Smile Hahaha that is so funny about your OH because that sounds oh too familiar as I am exactly the same! Grin

Roll on your early scan and wishing you all the luck Flowers xo

My scan is the 19th jan which will make me 7 weeks + 3 if my calculations are correct lol. Is this your first if you don't mind me asking? Xx

Hello and congratulations!
I was like this - the period like cramps really bothered me for the first few weeks. I felt on edge all the time as, like PP said, I felt like my period was on its way constantly. I didn’t ever have any bleeding though, although some bleeding can be common. It really is just everything stretching and getting ready inside.
12 weeks will be here before you know it. I got there by keeping telling myself that thousands of people have babies everyday, and even if there was news I didn’t expect, I had successfully gotten pregnant and that was great.
My LO is currently 12 weeks old and absolutely flat out asleep in her little cot next to me. She is such a joy, meeting her was the best day of my life. So exciting that you have that to come!

Hope you get some relief from the cramps soon. Enjoy the pregnancy, congratulations again x

@Pipperleen thank you so much commenting and reassuring. I'm so happy for you. I can't wait for that feeling when baby is here. I'm just holding out for that first scan and stopping myself from googling everything! Xx

@Dan3i Amazing! Once New Year is out of the way, the 19th Jan will soon be here! Are you back to work now? Hopefully that will distract you and time will go quicker! I had my booking appointment on Christmas Eve so just waiting for my 12 week scan letter now. Midwife said that could take a couple of weeks to get to me. Yes this is my first Smile so everything is new to me too, it’s an exciting but anxious time! Feel free to send me a private message whenever you want. Always great to speak to people that are on the same journey! Grin xo

Noornie · 30/12/2020 22:10

Hello :) I had period like cramps with my first daughter until I was about 15/16 weeks along. I remember sobbing to my DH in the early days I was so sure I was going to loose the baby as I couldn’t understand how I was cramping so much.

She is now a beautiful, and healthy, almost 2 year old. The midwife told me it’s just everything moving around and stretching getting ready to grow that baby. Try. It to worry Flowers

Noornie · 30/12/2020 22:10

Try not to worry* Flowers

Dan3i · 30/12/2020 22:14

@Noornie thank you so much for your reassurance! I didn’t think I’d worry about anything until near to giving birth but good god how I was wrong haha!! Xx

Congratulations! Just to reassure you that this is completely normal. I have 2 children and had this with both of them. It is where everything starts to stretch and its your body preparing. I remember some of the cramps I had really took my breath away, some were very low down too.
Good luck for your scan in a few weeks x

dramallama7 · 30/12/2020 22:42

Hi OP, that's great news, congratulations! I had an unplanned pregnancy around 6 years ago and remember this being the main symptom and why I took a test as no sign of a period but cramping a lot. So I guess it's pretty normal although I didn't continue with that pregnancy.

dramallama7 · 30/12/2020 22:43

Also this would of been around 4/5/6 weeks so similar time to you.

Dan3i · 30/12/2020 23:00

@dramallama7 thank you so much for sharing! Xx
