Hi all
I went for a scan at 6w and saw a heartbeat. I went again for another scan (both private) today at 8w4d pregnant to find no heartbeat and only measuring 6w6d.. looks like baby stopped developing 6 days after my last scan. I’m going to the hospital tomorrow morning... what do I expect to happen next? I’ve had no cramps or bleeding at all in this pregnancy

Feeling so sad x

Oh I'm so sorry @Mellous I've been there twice and there are no words to help you at this time.

First time I was told I had blighted ovum and could wait for miscarriage or have medical management. I waited and it took around 1-2 weeks for my body to naturally so what was needed. I won't lie the waiting is awful 😢

Second time I chose surgical option and it was over very quickly/was quite painless. I just had normal period type bleeding for a week or so after. Personally I found this much easier than the first time because I was able to move on with my grief process earlier.

I good this information helps. It's a very personal choice and you have options that will be explained to you. Just take the time you need to grieve and don't underestimate what you are going through as it's truly awful

I am sorry OP. Miscarriages are so hard. Hope you are ok. I had a MMC in the summer. Similar dates to yours. I was given three options: wait for a miscarriage, surgical management, medical management.

I have small kids so I opted to take the medical management. They gave me pessaries and explained what to expect. I went home, decided to insert the pessaries around 4pm and I had the full miscarriage around 10. It was uncomfortable and sad but not very painful.

Bleeding continued for 14days and then shortly after that I got a negative pregnancy test. Took a couple of cycles for my body to relax and ovulate again and 4 cycles to fall pregnant again.

Thank you both and sorry for your losses!
I feel so hopeless. Hoping the hospital don’t ask me to wait for nature to take its course. It sounds awful but i just want it to be over.
