Hey guys,

I suppose I'm just looking for a hand hold or anyone else who has experienced similar.

So October 2019 I had an early MC, I was only around 5/6 weeks along. We TTC since then and had pretty much nothing until 5th Dec 2020 when we finally got another BFP!

My cycles are all over the place so based on LMP I'm now over 13weeks but I don't think I'm that far along as I had some negatives before Dec 5th, but because of LMP I have my 1st scan tomorrow.

I feel like I should be excited but I'm honestly terrified, I'm so scared they'll say that something has gone wrong. Does anyone have any tips on dealing with the anxiety before 1st scan after a MC?

Tia guys

Hey hun, same boat as you, I was a nervous wreck, I had a scan 2 weeks ago and I was 10 weeks and I have another scan now tomorrow as I'll be 12 weeks and I want all the abnormalities tests.
All the advice I can offer is breathe, think positive and try not to stress, when I seen that little baby wriggling around on the screen I felt like I could take a massive sigh of relief. And yes I cried like a baby 🤣
I'm wishing you all the luck in the world lovely xx

Hi @Jurassiclover I know how you feel, I had two early miscarriages and when I fell pregnant for the third time I was so pleased to have reached 12 weeks scan but at the same time terrified like you!!

I am not sure I have any advice to be honest because nothing will ever take that feeling away when you've experienced loss. You won't feel relief until you see that baby and heart beating away, it's the most incredible feeling 🥰🥰then if you're anything like me you'll worry again til the 20 week scan!! It's a bit of a weird wait from 12 weeks til you can feel movement, which in itself is so reassuring. I ended up booking private 16 week gender scan and found that was a nice timeframe to see baby again before next nhs scan. I'm now 30 weeks and much more settled now baby moves so much 🥰

Best of luck, let us know how you get on! X

I am in the same boat as you. I had a MMC in October 2019. It took a really long time for my hormones to settle down and then for my cycle to go back to normal, so we were TTC for a year. I am now 11+5 weeks pregnant with my scan tomorrow.

I am also feeling really anxious. I am trying to distract myself as much as possible - it isn't working all that well though. A nice long walk might give you some time to process your feelings. There is something about being outside that helps a bit.

Good luck for your scan. x

@rbetty hey lovely, glad you had a 10 week scan and everything was good! Hope your 12 week one goes just as well! Yeah I'm trying my best to think positive and just stay calm haha! I'm betting I'll cry too haha. Thank you so much! Xx

@hungryHippo20 so sorry to hear of your MCs, congratulations on your pregnancy though!! Yeah I think I'll feel calmer once I see the little bean! We're also thinking of booking a private scan at 16 weeks too as 12-20 just seems too long to wait haha. Thank you x

@Mummy2O omg so similar to me! We were ttc for a year after the mc. So sorry to hear of your mc. Yes DP has just suggested a walk! I feel like I won't be able to sleep tonight. Sorry you're also feeling anxious, it's horrible isnt it. Good luck for your scan too, keep us updated! I hope all goes well x

@Jurassiclover It's horrible, but we've just got to ride it out. I don't think I will be getting much sleep tonight either. I hope you manage to get some rest. I will keep my fingers crossed for you. Hopefully we both get a nice end to 2020. x

HungryHippo20 · 30/12/2020 17:41

Will be watching for your updates ladies x

AprilM23 · 30/12/2020 18:00

Hi @Jurassiclover I feel the exact same. I've had 2 miscarriages, one at 5 weeks and one in July 2 days before my 12 week scan which was heartbreaking. I'm now 11 weeks but have my scan in 2 weeks time and the anxiety seems to be getting worse especially with what happened last time. All I can try to think is how amazing it will feel to see baby this time and just try not to think of the bad things that can happen, easier said than done I know
I also have a book called Pregnancy after loss which is a day by day guide to handling each step and I found that really helpful. All my fingers crossed that your scan goes well x

Jurassiclover · 31/12/2020 16:43

@Mummy2O it is horrible isnt it! How did your scan go? Fingers crossed for you that it went well x

@AprilM23 so sorry to hear of your MCs, yeah thats what I was trying to do! Just think positive! I have my fingers crossed that all will go well for you! Going to have a look at that book too thank you x

So scan went well! I was right in thinking my dating by LMP was wrong though, been dated at 8+0 so have to go back in a few weeks but we got to see the heart beat!

Congratulations @Jurassiclover! That's brilliant news. I am so happy for you.

My scan went well too. It is such a relief to see a heartbeat. I don't think it has quite sunk in yet.

Don't know about you, but there is no chance of me seeing the new year in. I'm flagging already.

Jurassiclover · 31/12/2020 18:41

@Mummy2O thank you! Ahhh I'm so glad your scan went well too! So happy for you!!

It definitely doesn't quite feel real yet does it!

Yeah I'm yawning already haha

Mummy2O · 02/01/2021 15:43

@Jurassiclover How are you doing now? I am still not sure it has quite sunk in for me yet.

Jurassiclover · 05/01/2021 10:03

@Mummy2O I'm okay, pretty bad morning sickness recently but okay other than that! How are you? Yeah it definitely hasn't sunk in for me yet either haha. I have my next scan in Feb which will be my 12 week scan so hopefully baby will look more like a baby and it may feel more real then ahah.

OP posts:
Mummy2O · 05/01/2021 11:01

Morning sickness is blooming horrid. I keep hoping mine will ease, but it hasn't quite yet.

I have told a few people now so it feels a little more real. That and I've had to admit defeat and break out my maternity jeans. (May also have something to do with all the mince pies I've been scoffing).

Good luck for your next scan. Keep me updated please.

Mummy2O · 14/02/2021 17:40

@Jurassiclover How are you getting on? x

Jurassiclover · 15/02/2021 22:08

@Mummy2O I'm good! Had my scan at 13 weeks but the little tinker wouldn't lie correctly to be measured so I have a scan at 16 weeks to take measurements haha. How are you getting on?x

OP posts:
Mummy2O · 15/02/2021 22:40

Mine was very similar. I kept getting sent back to the loo to do another 'half' wee to try and get them to move. Blush
We ended up coming out as high risk following the screening tests, but an amniocentesis has confirmed that all is OK thankfully.

Jurassiclover · 17/02/2021 13:17

@Mummy2O ah thats a nightmare! But so glad that the amnio has confirmed all is okay!
