Overheating in pregnancy

Hi all,

I am 9 weeks pregnant and have a thin body frame. I do feel very cold during winters and have always had this tendency to go and stand next to the radiator. I have continued to do so even during my pregnancy.

I just read online that overheating can cause birth defects (neural tube defects) in first trimester.
Needless to say, this is causing me a lot of stress. There's not much research done on this issue. So I thought to ask on mumsnet if anyone has had any experience with overheating (such as standing close to a radiator) and have had healthy babies? Thanks in advance for your replies

Its a raise in core temperature that would be an issue. Standing next to a radiator is not going to harm your baby

I lived abroad for both pregnancies, it was 40 degrees - never have I been so hot as when I was pregnant. Both children fine. Don't worry. Dont google!

Stop googling!!!!
When they talk about overheating, they mean things like sitting in a hot tub for an hour or going in a sauna. Think what women have had to endure over the centuries across the globe. Your baby will be able to deal with way more than you think. X
