Constipation and bleeding piles

Hi, I am 24 weeks pregnant and have always suffered from ibs. I have recently been straining to go to the toilet and started to bleed from the back. I've been taking lactulose but not frequently enough so going to start taking it twice a day. But at the minute even when I'm just trying to go I bleed. I'm hoping it's piles because I have a history of this or an anal fissure. Has anyone else had experience of this? Midwife told me to keep taking lactulose and eat fruit and drink plenty of water. Thanks

Just to say you're definitely not alone. I didn't have anything like this with DD1 but did in the weeks after labour. And now with DC2 I have struggled a lot! Was surprised by how awful it can be, and how much blood. Haven't spoken to my midwives yet as I haven't had any apppintments and I'm not sure what the situation will be now I'm in tier 4, but sounds like they've given you good advice. I gather the only real long term cure is giving birth!

I know nothing of the condition but a few of my pg friends swear by glycerin suppositories.

What helped me (but I just had constipation) was hot latte, cold orange juice and if still nothing after walking for 15 mins I ate some sauerkraut and flushed it down with a glass of milk. Make sure you are home and have a toilet available, at all times I'd say.
