Hi Everyone,
I’ve started buying little bits here and there, I’ve had so many different suggestions when it comes to what to put in your hospital bag!
What did everyone pack?
Someone the other day told me straws so it’s easier to drink when you’re in labour I thought that was such a good idea haha xxx

Lucozade sport. I was sick during labour so it was my only source of energy. Get your birth partner to buy and pack snacks for themselves as well.

More pyjamas, comfy clothes and underwear than you think, just in case you’re there longer than needed.

And don’t forget the obvious of the postpartum pads - you will need them!

Oh and a few sizes of baby clothing... my DS didn’t fit in a newborn size, we took about ten minutes of trying to cram him into a baby grow before we realised Grin

Good luck x

Our hospital gave us energy drinks with the sports spout and stuff like that.

I would 100% recommend snacks. Even post natal the food is few and far between compared to what I wanted. They wouldn’t let me eat for a day and a half (general anaesthetic scare) so I was eating my weight in snacks after that.

A mahooosive button up nighty thing. I found an ok shirt type one from tesco with palm trees on it, could give DC skin on skin and bf conspicuously and not have to worry about catheter and W/e. When they took it out I didn’t need to change, toilet was easy afterwards because I was sort of dressed.

Paracetamol and ibuprofen, buggers wouldn’t give me any for hours because my chart was with the pharmacy. DP ended up dropping some.

Baby will be fine with what ever you’ve got, they’re easy.

Good luck, very exciting time.

Paracetamol and ibuprofen In case they forget to give you then.
Snacks - I found cereal bars good
Pads thick mat ones
Big underwear
Couple changes of pjs/nighties/large tshirts
Coming home clothes for you both
Toiletries
Chargers
Breast pads
Formula if not planning to BF (the starter packs as these are sterile)
Nappies
Wipes/cotton wool
Baby clothes a couple sizes
A blanket for baby
Little mits for there hands
Hairbrush / bobbles if long hair
Lip balm (hospitals are so warm and I needed this)
Flannel & towel

Tbh I wouldn’t worry too much if you forget things. I recommend putting babies first outfit at top of bag so your birthing partner/DH/DP can get into to it easy. I put it in a sandwich bag with a pair of mitts

Good luck with the birth OP. Xx

Oh, and I plaited my hair. Everyone from the HCA to the anaesthesiologists commented on how ‘out of the way’ it was. Deffo would do next time.
