VBAC after multiple sections

Has anyone had an attempt at or successful VBAC after more than 1 section?

After a very quick search it appears that it is allowed and possible.

I've had 2 EMCS so would definitely be taking the advice of my consultant if the time comes for a third birth but can't help but feel disappointed to haven't had a vaginal birth and would like another attempt if it was deemed safe. I currently have a newborn so it won't be anytime soon! But would like to hear if anyone has experienced this.

Hi there, following as I'm intrigued by this too. I had a section, then a VBAC, then a section and am pregnant again and hoping I might be able to go for a VBAC this time.
My sections were electives, and it's been over 3 years since my last so wondering if it's possible.
I know I'll be speaking to the consultant in the coming months and obviously will go with whatever is safest, but I do think guidelines have changed a little so fingers crossed!

I’ve had two ELCS. I have been specifically told I can’t have a VBAC due to my scarring but they did say otherwise I could have tried. So I think it’s possible, depending on your personal circumstances. Good luck !

I’d like to have tried but I’m not overly bothered so feel
okay having a third section.

@candyflosscrochet please update the thread once you've spoken to the consultant, would be interested to know what they say!

@walkingmeaway did they discover your scarring during your second section? The surgeon said my scarring from my first section was minimal but I suppose they have no way of knowing about the scarring caused by the second? Did they cut in you in the same place for both or do you now have two scars?

@NavyNails2 I have 1 scar, yes they discovered during my second section and consultant came to me whilst I was in recovery to tell me I’d never be to have a natural birth.

@walkingmeaway, good to know where you stand with it all then. I annoyingly have two scars, which I was surprised at but I'm guessing because it was another category 1 section they didn't have time to worry where they went in. I think if I have a third child I will opt for an elective section anyway, I was 9 days late with my second and as each day went by past due date I felt more and more anxious that I had made the wrong choice by choosing VBAC and then it all went tits up anyway 🤷 but still interesting to hear if it has worked out positively for anyone.
