Elliott - Middle name? Nickname?

Elliott is top of our list at the moment for a boys name.

What do people think? What middle name would work well? Our surname begins with ā€˜P’ and is quite long.

What would people shorten Elliott to, if anything?! We don’t feel the need to shorten it but we know that people do.

TIA Smile

A one syllable name would be nice with Elliott. Like Elliott James or Elliott John. Something quite traditional!

I know an Elliott and people call him by his full name generally but then also if in conversation then might call him Ell.

Elliott is such a nice name!

I agree with PP a short one or two syllable name as middle name.

My husband has 4 friends with this name and none of them have a shortened version. If anything maybe their surnames.

Elliott Henry
Elliott Jessie
Elliott James

Elliot (with one T) is our front runner for a boy currently. We will team it with DH’s first name which is one syllable and traditional like a PP has suggested.

We won’t shorten it

Our DS1 is Oliver and we have never shortened it to Oli / Ollie / Olly and in turn no one else has. Although I imagine that will change when he goes to School.

Haha that’s so funny. Great suggestions but our daughter is Jessie and our other son Henry James. What are the chances of you coming up with those Smile

Anyone got some good ideas for one or two syllable boys names please for middle name? I can’t use James which would be be 1st choice as it’s our other sons middle name. Thanks xx

My brother is Elliot James, which flows really nicely. And he just gets called El or Els.

WalkingMeAway · 27/12/2020 15:52

Elliott George is nice and ā€˜matches’ well with Henry James. If you’re bothered about that.

I like Elliott John as well.

I definitely think one syllable sounds best

Sarah0202 · 27/12/2020 16:17

Thanks yes Elliott George is on the list we like that. John is FIL name so could work just not so keen but sounds right. Thank you
