Can I have Pizza Hut goats cheese pizza?

Hi,

I'm roughly 6 weeks pregnant, DH got a voucher for various restaurants for Christmas and has decided he fancies Pizza Hut.

I'm not the worlds biggest pizza fan, but I do like the goats cheese and caramelised onion one 😋

Can I eat it, as the goats cheese would be cooked?

I've got a lot of anxieties around this pregnancy so I'm a little paranoid about what I eat and drink etc

Of course - go for it. Love goats cheese on pizza 🍕

Absolutely. It's cooked, and the goats cheese itself is pasteurised.

Enjoy your pizza!

You can even eat goats cheese raw! It’s pasteurised and not mould ripened. So you are definitely fine to have it cooked.

Oh everyone you have made my day! My last two pregnancies I didn't touch it and I loveeee the stuff

Go for it! Although not all goats cheese is pasteurised BTW (pizza hut will definitely be) but I got a cheese hamper as a gift and was so looking forward to the goats cheese... But when I was about to open it I saw it was made with unpasteurised raw milk 😭😭😭 so definitely be careful with some of the fancier deli type cheeses. I was so gutted!

That’s not quite right - there are mould-ripened goats’ milk cheeses just as there are with cows’ milk.

If you wish to stick to NHS guidance: any goats’ cheese is fine on pizza or otherwise cooked. Hard goats’ cheese is fine whether pasteurised or not. Soft mould-ripened goats’ cheese, often in a log shape and called ‘bûche de chèvre’ should be avoided even if pasteurised, much like Brie.

You can eat it if it’s a hard cheese Smile
