Hi,
I'm 37+2 weeks pg today and I have been getting period like pains ever since this morning. The pains have been coming and going, they are'nt mega painful but are uncomfortable. I also have constant back ache.

Could this be the start?????????

it could be

but it might not be

are the pains regular, getting closer together, more intense, do they die off if you move or lie down.. ?

could be pre labour, or BH or nothing at all !

GoodGollyMissMolly · 24/10/2007 14:13

lol Lulu,
I am really hoping it is cant wait to meet LO.
The pains are not regular but they have been coming and going IYSWIM.
They dont seem to die off if I move around.
I have been having loads of BH for a few days now, but these pains feel kinda different.
These pains feel like they do a day or so before I come on my period

well, my advice as it always is :

sleep, eat , rest, wee, drink, potter

do whatever you fancy doing

sex and nipple stim tonight !

just potter around and when this demands your attention, you will know

if it isn;t it, then your body is gearing up and gettig ready, so it all helps

Thanks Lulu, I appreciate the advice.

Think I may even have a curry tonight

GGMM I'm 37+3 & have been having period type pain & back ache since Friday on & off, today is the first day I haven't had it. I was induced with DD but hoping it'll happen naturally this time, feels a bit different, never had BH last time or this type of pain so fingers crossed, just back from Mothercare & discovered I'd bought the wrong type of sheets for the crib so maybe it'll happen 'cos we're not properly prepared. Plus my parents are off on Friday for a long weekend so no one to have DD arranged. Sod's law!
Went out last night & had spicy Thai but it doesn't seem to have helped things along, will need to enlist DH tonight . Hope you're 'on the way'.

Lulumama · 24/10/2007 14:39

keep us posted x

GoodGollyMissMolly · 24/10/2007 14:40

Jbck, Ahhh you see I should not have got everything ready by the time I was about 20 weeks!!!! Sod's law that I'll probably be overdue now, lol.

You never know this may be IT for both of us
I really cant wait.
Hope all goes well for you

OMG, is this normal? The pains that I was having yesterday really calmed down last night and then petty much stopped. I managed to get quite a good nights sleep (apart from a migrane waking me up in the middle of the night)

I've been up since 8ish and I've not had any more pains, so I was just thinking that maybe I was having v v early labour signs yesterday. But it has just started again, just like yesterday with a mild build up then slowly getting worse.

Is it normal for early labour to be so sporadic??
Or is it just not early labour at all and only wishfull thinking on my part

Mine was very sporadic like that - started on the Wednesday and DD not born till Sunday evening! Sounds difficult but I would try not to focus on them too much - have a nice warm bath and try to relax. I got too caught up in trying to time them from the beginning which was pointless as was 15 mins, 5 mins, 8 mins, 20 mins - you get the picture.

Good luck.

GoodGollyMissMolly · 25/10/2007 11:44

Thanks Jumpyjan, I didn't realise it could be so sporadic, I thought once it had started then it would continue until active labour

GGMM I'm still here too, had mild contraction like pains last night for about 4 hours from 8'ish, deffo pains & not BHs but they tailed off & haven't returned. I had 2 false alarms with DD, 1 trip into hospital as hind waters leaked & still had to be induced so I'm not getting my hopes up this time.

GoodGollyMissMolly · 26/10/2007 08:05

Hi Jbck, I had them on and off again all day yesterday. They seem to start up in the morning and and last most of the day eventually dying down by bedtime

My mum tried to time them yesterday and see how long between each one, lol. They were so sporadic at times I could go up to an hour without having so much as a twinge and at other times I would get a couple every 15 minutes or so!!!! So weird!!!!

Keep me posted Jbck, it's nice to hear from someone who has been through it all before and again

Just back from the midwife baby is 2/5's engaged (quite good for a second apparently). I was all curried up this weekend & 'made' DH do his duty lol. Nothing yet tho'. All my twinges have come to nothing, some BH's yesterday but bugger all else!
He's on nightshift for most of this week so I'm settling in for the long haul I'm afraid. I'll maybe search the classifieds to see if I can get a man for that sort of thing.

GoodGollyMissMolly · 29/10/2007 18:32

It's the same here as well, although I've no idea if the baby is engaged yet or not. I'm having loads of BH, but all lead to nothing!!
Hopefully something will happen for us both soon. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.
