Hey

So I'm 13+ 1 and my hip are aching really badly it's waking me up and at night I can't get comfy at all. It's my third baby and I've not suffered like this before I know I'm a bit older now but at 29 should I be aching like this??

Has anyone got any suggestions that can help me??

Thank you

I’ve had this from around 22 weeks this time (didn’t have it in my first pregnancy) and at some points it’s been really difficult to walk on/sleep. At night putting a pillow under my hip and between my knees really helped. I’m now 34 and it’s gone thankfully

Hip pain is by far the worst symptom of pregnancy for me too. I don't think it's got much to do with your age, mind you ;) For me, I've got narrow hips which seem ill-suited for the weight of my bump, and an old injury from doing Tough Mudder, but my whole hip/pelvic area is struggling with pregnancy. It began very early on, and has got somewhat worse, but it's not unbearable. I wake up about 3 times in the night, and use a pregnancy pillow. That doesn't really help much, so might try a regular pillow like @Stepintochristmas suggested. I also take Magnesium which helps me sleep, plus find that doing exercise helps a little (I do yoga, peloton and walking - but all only gently).
Will be interested if others have a wonder cure?!

Is it pelvic girdle pain you have?

I couldn't walk by the end with this and two years on I'm still in a state but I'm rare!

See a women's physio either NHS or private, see an osteopath. If pain at the front ice it, I found a hot water bottle in lower back good. Try not to open legs too wide. Pillow at night. Try not to walk too much. Get professional help!

And not always to do with age, I was 29. I'm hypermobile and my joints were just so loose the ligaments and muscles couldn't support them, that's what caused mine.

Am suffering too but I have a history of pelvic girdle pain, I'm 10 weeks. Sleeping with a pillow between my legs really helps. I invested in a pregnancy pillow but am not sure there is anything magnificent it's doing that an ordinary pillow can't do. GP has prescribed cocodamol to help with the pain as mine is coupled with lower back and sciatica pain. Hope you feel better soon

Am hyper mobile as well @doadeer which really doesn't help

@feistymumma

My goal is to just keep trying to build strength in muscles, I think my ligaments are really lax and I've still got so much movement through my hip joints 😢

I am 12 weeks pregnant. I have PGP and the past few nights I have noticed my hips and knees hurt when I'm lying on my side and I have to change sides, not sure if that is also PGP, which I had with my first pregnancy but don't remember the hip pain. I have a pillow between my legs but not sure it's helping the hip and knee pain.
