Buying a changing mat

Sorry for the random subject! Grin

We’re TTC later on in 2021 and the one I’ve loved for years is in the sale.

I’m in 2 minds as to get it and store it in the loft/use it for friends babies when we look after them as well as when we (hopefully) have our own. But then I also see SO many threads on here saying don’t buy anything until after the 12 weeks scan.

What do people think? Confused

If you like it, get it Smile

Personally I wouldn’t, you are still months off ttc and who knows what will happen between now and then never mind how long it could actually take you. It seems like it would just add to pressure to start buying baby stuff when it’s a least nearly another year and a half before the baby might be here. Changing mats are really inexpensive and new things come out all the time.

You've loved a changing mat for years?

I wouldn't buy a changing mat until late in pregnancy, they're only a few quid.

LJC1234 · 25/12/2020 20:20

If it makes you happy buy it!

I didn't buy anything before 12 weeks but that's just me everyone is different

Separately can you send the link to the changing Matt as I'm intrigued . I can't imagine ever loving a changing mat.

TTC2022 · 25/12/2020 20:29

Maybe ‘years’ is a big exaggeration 😂 I’ve seen it a few times and just think it’s so cute. It’s a little dumbo one and it’s a family thing as it links too my nickname.

It’s only £4 and I know they’re not expensive anyway but it’s just so cute 😂Blush

Changing mat?! But if it's only £4 go for it. Might bring you luck xx

xoxochellexoxo · 25/12/2020 21:07

I say go for it! I bought a babygrow after 13 months of ttc because something in me made me do it and the next month i got my bfp. Whatever makes you happy is all that matters

TTC2022 · 25/12/2020 21:14

I know it’s so random wanting a changing mat 😂 I figure for £4 why not so have placed the order Grin

I did order a pack of muslins with it as they were £2 and matched Dumbo as well but might gift them to my friend.

I need to buy one, I’m intrigued... can you send a link?

Hope54321 · 26/12/2020 00:02

Definitely buy it! Especially if you like it so much. It’s only £4 too!

Bing765 · 26/12/2020 04:34

I say buy it. I bought a couple of things before TTC because like you they related to a specific character that meant something. Please link is the changing mat because I'm nosy

TTC2022 · 26/12/2020 08:48

It’s from Matalan - if you search Dumbo it’ll come up. It’s £6 in the sale and I have a voucher with £2 left on it which I’ve used 😂

I feel so silly liking it so much when it’s just a changing mat and some muslins 🙈

Get it!

TisTheSeasonToEatLots · 26/12/2020 09:34

What if you can't get pregnant though 😬, it's a reality many people unfortunately face. I wouldn't be buying anything until you are in the advanced stages of pregnancy, you could be setting yourself up for a lot of upset picking out baby things before you even know you can have a baby.

TTC2022 · 26/12/2020 10:55

That’s the thing. I have been pregnant before but due to medical issues we were advised a termination so I know we ‘can’ but that was only once so it could be harder again.

Thankfully we’re now able to start TTC more safely but it is a worry. We went for it though and ordered it as for £4 we can always gift it to someone or get rid of it if it was causing too much upset.
