Hi I'm trying not to panic, went for 34 week midwife appointment this morning. My fundal height measurement hasn't changed since 31 weeks. At that appointment I was measuring 3 weeks bigger but it hadn't changed since then.

I have a scan booked in the morning, so will have answers then. Has this happened to anyone else? If so what was the outcome?

Happened to me, sonographer explained midwives measuring with a tape measure is nowhere near as scientific as a scan, baby was back to back.

Was it the same midwife, if not it probably doesn’t mean anything. They all measure slightly differently.

Yeah it was the same midwife, she did say she could be having an off day but she did it 4 times throughout the appointment.

I know it's not very accurate but I haven't grown a cm in 3 weeks apparently. Very odd.

@Esse321 I wonder if this is the case with baby, I hadn't thought of that. Thanks for a bit of reassurance Smile

I've just had similar- only 1cm growth in fundal height in 3 weeks. Measured by different midwife though. Had growth scan which was reassuring, and placed baby between the different measurements. Was told scan is more accurate, and as scan was fine nothing else needs doing. Hopefully your scan will be fine too. I think it's quite a common scenario.

Esse321 · 23/12/2020 18:57

@Megalala was the scan okay?

ohidoliketobe · 23/12/2020 19:02

Exactly as Esse321 says, I apparently reduced by 3cm between appointments with my DC1 between 36 and 38 week appointments (I think it was). Anyway. Sent for a scan which was at 39+4. Absolutely fine. Fine DC was meauring approx 7lb 4oz ish at that time. Came 1 week later at 8lb, bang on the expected growth

I had exactly the same, my bumps measured small the whole time and then stopped growing so went for a scan - babys apparently big and long and is hiding somewhere but most definitely growing! Don't worry about it. It's a nice excuse for an extra scan though ☺️

Hi all a quick update. I went for my scan this morning, baby is all fine if not a little big. I just don't seem to be growing with her, she's just above the 90th percentile.

I was worried that my placenta was failing but all is good with that too.

I have another scan in 4 weeks just to keep track and reassure me.

Thank you for all your comments and putting my mind at ease.
