Bleeding at 13 weeks... advice please

Hiya
I am 13 weeks pregnant. Yesterday afternoon I had my 12 week scan which went great, was told that the baby looked healthy and normal.
Two hours after the scan I started bleeding and have had slight bleeding since. I don’t have any cramping.
The Early Pregnancy Unit at my hospital said that I should just keep an eye on it and call if it gets worse and not to go to A&E because it is full of Covid patients.
Does anyone have experience of bleeding at this point in their pregnancy? I haven’t had any bleeding until now and this is my first pregnancy.
Thank you very much x

Hello I didn't want to read and run- I have no experience myself so hopefully someone with experience will be along shortly, but I know that bleeding at all stages of pregnancy can be normal and many mums have a healthy baby at the end of it.

I have my fingers crossed for you that it all turns out okay. Thanks

Wondering if it could be caused by agitation to the cervix by the probe. Fingers crossed for you xx Thanks

Thank you, have everything crossed x

Thank you. It did hurt a bit when the sonographer was pressing down on my tummy. But thought it was because I’d drank so much water before so my bladder was very full!

What colour is the blood and how much is it? I spotted after sex a couple of times early on in pregnancy. I think some bleeding is quite common and they usually tell you that it's likely to be something more serious if you're filling sanitary towels quickly

It was bright red yesterday, now just a tiny bit which is brown in colour. Yes that’s what they said about the sanitary towels - I’ve been told to call back if they fill up quickly or if there’s still spotting in a week’s time. We’ve booked a private scan though to try and put our minds at rest. Thanks for responding x

Have you had an internal examination at all
yet? I had a cervical erosion with my son. And now I am pregnant again it's returned! It's a lot less scary than it sounds and usually to do with hormones xx

On the 1st Dec I went for a private nuchal scan as the NHS one was unable to get the measurements needed.

During the scan I felt like I was leaking, and having had 4 kids thought I was peeing myself and hoped I could get off the bed without it being obvious.
I stood up she said you're bleeding. I was totally shocked, there was loads all through my clothes. I had no pain and no bleeding in previous pregnancies.

I went to the loo and passed a large clot. I was convinced that the baby was gone. I came back she scanned again, baby was totally not bothered at all by the bleed, heart rate same as before.
She said she could see an area of bleeding but was confident all would be ok. She offered to rescan 4 days later.

I went home and bled red blood, like a period for 2 days then brown blood for over 2wks. When I got home I rang my MW as I thought I should, I was told to go to EPU or A&E if it got heavier, but basically oh you're ok wait it out.

I went back on the Friday and baby was fine. I had 2 subchrionic haematoma which caused the bleed.

I had no pain at all throughout.

I'm now 15+4. I really hope you're ok OP. X

I haven’t yet but the midwife did mention cervical ectropion as a possibility on the phone. Good to know that it’s nothing to worry about if that’s what it is, thank you x

I had two periods of bleeding during pregnancy at 10 & 14 weeks- baby absolutely fine.

My friend bled almost constantly until 21 weeks! Her baby is fine too. When it happened to me and I mentioned it to family members they all said the same "oh I had some too".

It is a horrible time but I think it's more common than we think. I hope everything is ok with you and little one.

LadyFoxtrot · 23/12/2020 19:00

My sister had two quite heavy bleeds, her DD is now 18 months.

Try not to worry OP, hopefully everything is fine! Maybe pay for a private scan if you’re worried?

hermionieweasley · 24/12/2020 13:52

How are you today OP? Has there been any change?

Hel21 · 24/12/2020 14:20

Still a tiny bit of brown blood but not much at all and no cramps. We’ve booked a private scan for 28th so hopefully that will put our minds at rest.
Thanks for checking and to others for the reassurance, it’s really appreciated x
