Clearblue weeks indicator 3+ seems early

Hi all. Now, I know that these tests (Clearblue Digital Weeks indicator) are not entirely accurate and are only a guide. However, I do have a query and wondered if anyone could shed any light or anecdotes to clear things up for me.

After a very difficult road, I believe I am around 5 weeks pregnant. No symptoms other than breast tenderness and I was very thirsty the other day 🤷‍♀️

The Clearblue gave me a 3+ at what I believe to be 21dpo approx (it may have been a few days earlier or later of course). This would be around 3-4 weeks post conception. So why the 3+?

I've read the reasons hcg can be higher. I wondered if similar had happened to someone else and all was fine?

I've had this. Clearblue dates from conception, it's likely your hcg levels are higher than 3 weeks, so it's given you the 3+ reading. Had this result with all mine, dating scan roughly aligned to what I suspected gestation to be, and 2 healthy previous pregnancies and 22wks with #3

I think to remember Clearblue shows weeks from conception, not weeks of pregnancy as calculated by the midwifes.
So, if you conceived about 3-4 weeks ago you are 3+ on the test, but normally referred as 5-6 weeks pregnant.

@ohidoliketobe brilliant, that's great news, thank you. I was so pleased to see the 3+ so early as I felt it was a good sign.

However, I then realised the 3+ indicated conception 5+ weeks ago and felt worried. It may be that I conceived around 4 weeks ago now that I look again at dates so not too far out. I didn't track ovulation so it's hard to say.

Thank you and congratulations on your pregnancy.

Yes, 3+ on Clearblue would be pregnancy dated 5+ weeks by doctor.

Doesn't it seem a tad off that I got 3+ at 21dpo, so pregnancy of 4+2 weeks from LMP?

The more I discuss this the more I think it is probably ok and the difference isn't actually too huge...

@user1471523870 yes, you're correct. I think I'm anxious after a difficult path here. Thanks! Smile

Hi, I’m 6 & 3 now. I got 3+ at 4+3.
If you’re 21 DPO then it sounds bang on. It’s 3 weeks since ovulation so exactly where you are...

@babyc21 yes, you're right. I felt the 4+2 seemed too early to get it but you've reassured me. Thanks. Really going to try to relax and keep faith that things will go well.

@Mondaymonday249 if anything it's probably a good sign as means HCG levels are nice and strong. I was similar (in fact got 3+ at around 17/18 dpo) and discovered at an early scan that initially 2 eggs had implanted so I had twin HCG levels! Unfortunately only one of the eggs went on to develop but the rest of the pregnancy went without issues. Obviously it doesn't definitely indicate a twin pregnancy but it's a possibility. Congratulations on your positive result, I hope everything goes really well for you x

@knockeduplockeddown thank you, I appreciate the encouragement and I am going to look ahead with positivity and get excited because it seems to be happening!
